View Full Version : Your Disco On Television ??

Following on from another thread.

There are a few TV programs about weddings on TV (4 weddings and Don't tell The Bride to name 2) at present. Would you accept a booking knowing the wedding, and your disco, would be used on one of these programs ?

Probably not. Happy doing what I do and these things can sometimes backfire.

Especially if they edited the show not to show you in a good light.

My wife got a call today from ITV from the makers of '4 Weddings' asking if she had any brides getting married between now and February as they are wanting to film in this area. She's contacted the brides to see if they are interested. One of the brides is getting married on 2nd January and I am doing the Disco. I hope she says she isn't interested and more importantly, consults me too. I am not interested in doing anything like that at all.

I'd go for it too, although it wouldn't be free advertising, as I don't use signs or banners.

The best & main thing about this for me would be being able to use the fact that I'd been featured in a TV programme on my website.


Especially if they edited the show not to show you in a good light.

To be honest, I don't think that would matter too much in my case, because I don't use signs or banners, so people wouldn't know who I was anyway (unless the show happened to mention my disco name, which certainly doesn't happen in "Don't tell the bride").

The only people who would know who I was would be freinds, family & possibly some past clients...so I can't see how it could have a negative effect on my business, even if it WAS edited in a way that didn't show me in a good light.

I got an email about 2 months ago from an ITV production company that do 4 Weddings asking if I'd got any clients that may want to go on their programme. I forwarded the email to my prospective clients.

One of them got back to me and said they watch the programme when ever it's on however it's a massive biatch fest and her hubby to be would do her some serious damage if she applied :D

I too got the same email...and when forwarded on, i got a nearly identical reply from one of my clients.

They never even show the groom booking the disco. Last weeks made me laugh, 1 week before the wedding and still no entertainment booked. They were very lucky they got one at all.

No Chance, TV shows like that would either edit the show so you were either the best DJ in the world showing everyone up dancing having a great time, or more likely the worlds worst DJ making out you ruined the Wedding as it's more likely to get people to watch!

Anyway, Reality TV, should be banned as it's **** :)
