So last night, I had a brilliant gig - hard work as I needed to be very switched on and had loads to remember, but really enjoyable.
Basically, it was a 70s disco evening, but with dance demonstrations, raffle, lots of interaction, heads and tails game and lots of other stuff going on.
I love these kind of evenings as it really brings out the showman in me, which doesn't get an airing very often these days!
It was fancy dress, so we dressed up in our 70s gear to get into the spirit. I ave seriously achy legs from the platforms today.
I was the MC for the evening, introducing the dancers, announcing the raffle, organising the games and basically holding the evening together. The guy that booked me had used us before, so I gave him a slight discount as it was a charity night. He told me before that he'd got 2 much cheaper quotes, but wanted to use us, even though we were more expensive.
We had a couple of pro dancers doing demonstrations and then they did a session for everyone to join in, eventually leading to a competition. When there were 3 couples left, we bought in the judges. I had to introduce them and after the dancers, I had to ask for their comments and get their scores.
All of the interactive stuff finished around 10:30pm and we then played a mixture of mostly 70s, with some 60s soul, rock n roll and a smattering of 80s chucked in. The dance floor was rammed until we finished at midnight.
Great night and they raised over £1000 for dystonia, which was the charity.
The downside was the horrible narrow and steep stairs that we had to navigate to get into the venue. Thanks to Lee who worked extremely hard lugging gear.
I wanted to keep the lighting as 70s based as I could, so we used 4 x Visio led pars, 2 x mirrorballs lit by 2 Isolution heads and the Nebula as a centrepiece.
