Colourburst Green LED Fault?

I can seem to recall Daryll mentioning this in a thread before, but not sure.

Anyway...had a couple of the coulorbursts out today for a client meeting, and ive notice that ive got 3 green LEDs out. Its just the one unit, and its literally just 3 in a row in the middle of the bank...so the supplier is getting a call tomorrow and getting one back as its only a few months old, and only been used a handful of times.

Anyone else having issues?

I had to return one that 3 of the blue leds had gone.

But my local has had problems with green leds. He was told it was a bad batch :confused:

Sounds about right. I got 10, and have had one with fault.

LED's go just like bulbs do, the thing with LED lighting is that once one LED goes then you will find a cluster around that LED will follow suit. The only time that I've used LED lighting is when I give them a go, I had a KAM LED 800 and a couple of Revo 3's. The KAM lost around 18 LED's in 3 clusters in different area's within 6 months. The Revo's both lost a small cluster of LED's but was very much less noticeable because of the magnifying lens, you have to open it up and you will see them easily, the other way is to blind yourself but not recommended !!!

I have several different Prolight "Equinox" effects and they all have about half a dozen green LEDs dead. weird. I keep meaning to take them apart to have a look at replacing them. Anyone on here had a go and how hard is it to get in and solder new ones in?

Ive heard so many issues and faults with colourbursts and even a local retailer is reguarly sending them back.

I have 12 Units now. Out of the 12 that I have, I have had 2 with the Green LED's issue of being faulty. They were 2 of the first 4 that I bought and I was told at the time that there was actually a bad batch of them. All of the others are absolutely fine.

I have some cheapo LED fixtures from Music Store. Had 2 cans with bad solder joints making three leds go out in each. Quick resolder and we are good again. On a wash had three go out and two of the LEDs were faulty. Replaced them and they are all good again. If they are no longer under warranty then get the multimeter out.

how bizarre i brought a colourburst to see what they were like i thought for the price tag it could be used in all sorts of places where it doesn't matter if they get smashed etc....

Turned it on twice and had the 3 green leds go so off to the bin it went!

I found the old thread where Daryll had said that he had sent back a couple of units to the same retailer with the same fault as mind. Anyway, got in touch with the retailer who claim to have never came across the fault before :confused: but on the plus point, they are replacing it, and paying for the return postage so im happy.

On a different note...ive got 10 of the units, and it now looks like im going to have to go and buy an extra 25 for a client in december who requires the hire of 35 units :eek:

Blimey, 35, what are you trying to light up?!

I have had a problem with the LEDJ par cans; out of 6 I had problems with 5.
The main problem being loss of red LEDs, unfortunately they are out of warranty so I have had to repair them myself.
I’ve only had the time to fix one of them and the problem seems to be bad solder joints.

The problem these days is manufactures have to use lead free solder to comply with the ROSH directive.
I don’t want to go off subject but basically lead free solder has a lot of problems.

Yeah, lead frees a biatch from what sparky mates have told me.

Its a marquee, which is massssssive, They want the units at 2m spacings too, which means about 35 of the things....

especially when the marquee is 24m x 12m....

I did say that 3m would do fine, but they wanted 2m, so they get 2m :D
