We don't believe that big names means great gains in terms of sculpting the best party set: great parties are founded on 'choon' selection not technical prowess & who better to decide on what they want to hear than you & your guests.

By inviting your guests to submit playlists, you can ensure that there is a little something that appeals to everyone. With such a range of ages & tastes, your friends & family can deliver a rollercoaster of a musical journey that spans decades of popular hits: in short, you set & control both the pace & direction of the night. Their choices will always be emotive & pertinent: some may take you on a quick jaunt down memory lane, whilst others will simply make you shake that tail feather baby!

What's more, you & your guests actually get the opportunity to grace the stage & play before an adoring audience of family & friends. No DJ experience is necessary as we'll be with you the whole time, offering as much or as little technical assistance as you require. Mixing is actively discouraged too: this isn't a night for wannabee DJs, it's simply a chance for people that love music to share their favourite choons with the people closest to them.You can spin vinyl, CDs, even MP3s & switching between formats isn't a problem

Just had a brief look at the website - 5 venues doing stick-it-on nights - dunno, unless I've got the wrong end of the stick it looks like a bit of good fun for like minded poeple I suppose. Choose 15mins worth of toons[sic] and wait for your slot to DJ (well play the CD you've just bought and wave the banner with your DJ name on it)

Probably make for quite a fun night out for a party or in a nightclub, but it would be a recipe for disaster at a wedding, as much as Aunt F@nny loves her nephew Pete I doubt very much she'd enjoy 10 minutes of his favourite Megadeath tunes at her daughters wedding.

Make for an interesting night... It would be nice to see their PLI for all these drunk partygoers being up there with their gear. Its interesting that their own DJ/MC will "warm up" first.

I still think that a dj selecting off a playlist is a safer bet mind you.

The night is split into 10 minute slots for each person Stickin' It On. You can either simply rock up on the night and pick three tracks from our music library that we will then burn to CD for you ready to play OR, If you fancy bringing along your own music, visit the 'Apply to DJ' page and pre-register your DJ set. You can bring either vinyl or CD and mixing is actively discouraged. And remember, Stick It On isn't a night for wannabee or bedroom DJs to showcase their talents, it's about ordinary Joe's just taking to the stage and rockin' the dance floor with their three favourite tracks.

So basically, 3 songs on a cd, stick it in the cd player and press play.

I can't see it working at many Weddings but I like the idea all the same, very inventive marketing angle.

More for bars than anything, good idea though if your a bar owner and fancy doing something different on a quiet midweek night to boost trade.

Oops.

Guess it is an easy way of getting round music licensing laws though - if the guests are playing the music (i.e. not for profit) then no license is required!

Was there not a post about this kind of thing last week where one of our forum djs let a family member take over for a dj slot at a party.we know what happened there on that occasion.......................................... ..the room emptied very quickly because no one could stand his music selection.


Personally i dont think this is geared towards the wedding market that i do.

The problem is most people wouldn't be able to choose 15 mins of floor filling tunes they may think they could but in practice I doubt they would manage it, and the chances of each person doing to same without repetition would be highly unlikely, which is what this relies on.

Ok in a bar, but certainly not at a wedding or private function.

I think it's scary what some wedding guests come up and ask for as it is, imagine letting them loose to actually play them? :eek:

Reading the crowd and then programming the music is what mobile DJing is all about, 'Stick It On' takes that concept and throws it out the window......terrible idea for a wedding IMO! :mad:

It's a rubbish idea in my opinion and just another swipe at us lot.
They do the usual by saying "Cheesy Wedding DJ" which once again paints the image of us all being THAT DJ we all don't want to be.

As they say on Dragons Den...It's a bit of fun but it aint a business.
