The other day I had a bit of a strange enquiry which I posted on here. You might remember they moaned about my reply being a cut & paste job which wasn't personal enough for their requirements. A few forum members thought it might have been a wind up.

I've now received an enquiry about a 6 hour disco with "mood lighting". I find this rather strange, mainly because it's the first enquiry I've EVER received about mood lighting, and it seems more than a coincidence for me to receive this only a few days after mood lighting was being discussed on the forum & after I said I don't offer it & have no plans to.

Anyone here care to own up?

Why is it so strange Rob? You said yourself that loads of DJs do it as an add on now, so people might expect it to be the norm.

Because I get a lot of enquiries and I've never been asked about uplighting before, because uplighting is not mentioned anywhere on my site, because of the timing and because I'm an old cynic.


And no, it wasn't me.

To be honest, you're one of the last people I'd expect it to be.

Because I'm a professional, I had to assume it WAS a genuine enquiry Dazzy, so I replied accordingly.

An enquiry about Mood Lighting though, it's more the sort of thing that a Wedding Company/Liasor would ask about, rather than the bride or groom themselves :confused:

rob get yourself a program installed on your site that tracks ip address, what pages where accessed at what times etc... and then work it out yourself.

I've just found out that our site has this stuff already. Some of the reports it throws up are brilliantly detailed. I can tell IP addresses, country of origin, even the browser and OS used! It doesn't give me hair and eye colour of the person though!!

and you think anyone would want to write out a list of addresses, and that still doesn't solve who it is, for example :

123.4.5.6.5.6 (example IP)

a load of numbers, how do I know whether that is Fred Brown, or an MDD Member? :confused:

Google analytics does all that and it's free, you won't trace the I.P back to a home address though. ;)

90 % of customers never read the site properly. I had one yesterday who asked if i have my own equipment!!

all she had to do is watch the video on the front page and all her questions are answered. turned out to be a £170 budget (on valentines day) and no she did not go to the "prices" section first which seems a logical step to me?

Assuming it IS a genuine enquiry, it's just possible that they might still book ME for the disco & arrange the mood lighting through a DIFFERENT company.

I can assure you that with my site the prices page is the most popular behind the index page. Thats a fact.

And Rob really what is the big deal? You send them an email and thats it. If it continues then maybe post a thread....

Just heard back from them.

They thanked me for my prompt reply & said they'll let me know by the end of November...not than I'll be holding my breath!

I wonder if there's any danger of me actually getting a GENUINE enquiry at some point?
