I play XBL and pants it is certainly not (silver is though ya cheapskate lol). Current games I'm playing are HALO ODST & Call of Duty World at War. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 is out on November 10th that will be an awesome game I reckon.

Forza 3 looks good for sure, I'm quite the geek when it comes to gaming from the phillips g7000 my dad bought to my first real gaming experiences on the rubber keyed 48k Spectrum playing Jet Set Will & Attic Attack, until I ruined it playing Daley Thompsons Decathlon and upgraded to the almighty Commodore 64 lol. Oh how I used to love waiting for those cassetes finish loading the games.

I'm looking at all the deals etc, but is it worth getting the Elite console rather than the Arcade version and paying the extra.

Do you really need the hard drive?

Any advice appreciated. My son is 9.

I would go for the Elite. You get a hard drive for which you can save games as well as download games, movies ect. A memory card wont hack it. :)

Buy the acrcade and then a hard drive, save a bit of cash, now the arcades have the same processors etc as an elite.

I was under the impression that there were 3 versions of the 360 - Arcade, standard and Elite. The Arcade was a stripped down version with no hard drive, and no HD capability. The standard version comes with the basic 30GB hard drive, and I think they are all now HD capable. The Elite version comes with a 120GB hard drive, and is black :) I'm sure there are one or two other advantages too.

The only other thing I'd say is that you should try to get the wireless controllers with the rechargeable battery packs (you just plug them into the USB port on the front of the 360). It saves mucking around with batteries, and you only need to trail a cable whilst it's charging (you can still play when the battery is recharging) :)

Im looking at getting another 360 for xmas as my original one died from the RROD.
Will be getting modern warfare 2 aswell but wont have it online as I like to play on my own.

darren having had both ps3 and xbox I have to say the ps3 is a better machine and has also recently come down in price.

I still have the xbox mind and Its great so if thats what he wants then great.

What I will say though is you can get the headsets and go online.........

Indeed you do Daz, it's about £30/40 quid for the year for the Gold Membership. Silver membership won't let your boy play online with his mates.

MS Points are Xbox currency mate, you can buy allsorts on there now, games, music, films and add ons for games etc.

I edited my last post mate. TBH I've only ever bought map packs for games with MS Points. The map packs I've bought are usually around 800 MS points.
