View Full Version : Should I test it?

Managed to pick up a booking for tomorrow and not a bad one.

However, last outing when unloading my cabs I managed to drop one on its back. Not from a large height, I was attempting to pivot it onto its back and dropped it from about 15cm, but it still made a bit of a thud.

Would you rig it up before going out and leave it running a bit to see if the magnet has displaced and is going to heat up and die, or just take it out as a small knock shouldn't make a difference.

Am i just being paranoid?

What at 2:15 am in the back of my transport on my driveway?

If its not working I have other options, its just the hassle of dragging reserve cabs out. I will take a reserve cab with me. If it dies I will throw another one up. Okay just answered my own question.

I didn't ask earlier in the week as the OP says - I have managed to pick up a job - ie it has just come through. I thought I had until end of November to get it tested and would have done it last weekend but weather meant getting the trailer out would have been a real pain.

I did a worse one than that. :o Dropped a big Class D off another one! The weight of the HF driver broke the mounting. Cost me £10 and a trip to Mansfield.

I'd have tested it at the first chance I had.
Like Neil mentioned, it'd be at the back of mind, wondering if it will work or not.

If you carry spare cabs, I wouldn't bother testing it.

However, if you don't, it's essential you run it up.

Personally, I'd still test it even if I'd dropped it from half the height you did, as I don't like any nasty surprises.

my sub has wheels on it, so i put the two speakers on it and push the whole lot out of halls. a few weeks ago a wheel got stuck on a rubber mat and one speaker fell off.
The magnet came off the driver completely, cost me £130 to replace. That was more than id made at the 2 hour kids party id been doing :(

Am I the only one wondering why? Is it really necessary to ask the other members?

If you're that concerned... Test it!!!!

I hope it's not damaged, and I'll keep my fingers crossed that you dont end up with a bill. But i'm sure you can make a simple decision like that yourself.

I just like to natter and its a forum, so I asked the question. The same reason why I sometimes ask my mates innane pointless questions that I could make my mind up for myself on. Its just purely for a natter and to see what people think.

It worked fine. Ohm RW3 - good old Celestian drivers. Bomb proof.
