elc 250w 24v

looking to buy some new bulbs due to a couple of failiers probably the nice warm room into the cold car that did them in.
Any way looking for good price for these bulbs are their any brands to steer away from I know that philips and osram tend to be the best but unless I can find a cheaper supplier I will have to switch to other brands.

Any suggestions?

One simple word of advice, don't. Cheaper brands have significantly lower output because the construction of the reflectors in them is poor. I've tried a few other brands out for the 250w, 150w and 100w versions of these fittings and generally you're wasting your time and money by shopping around different brands.

The best thing to do is to see what kind of prices you can get by bulk buying (5+ at a time) Philips or Osram lamps, but don't compromise on cheaper lamps because the output will be poor and their life is even worse.

you can buy 10 off fleabay for 20 quid,but i'd be surprised if all ten lasted as long as a decent branded one

Had a problem with this a year ago when the light effect was going through bulbs too quickly. :eek:

I go with the rest of the guys---like Entertainment--cheap is rarely any good unless as suggested you are buying a decent brand on a genuine discount.

Have to agree with everyone else: we found out a long time ago that it was a false economy to buy the cheaper lamps.

Ok fair enough anyone know where a good cheap supplier of osram or philips bulbs can be found?
No Allen it not a dodgy lampholder just the age of the bulbs I think both lights blew a bulb almost at the same time but as they had new bulbs at the same time I guess they just reached age of the lamps. Best price I have found for philips is £49. for 10 includng postage anyone else found any cheaper?

Tried the cheapies, was swapping at least one lamp per gig (or so it seemed).

Now I fit only Philips Broadway and I can't remember the last time I had to reach for a screwdriver...

Not the cheapest on a per-lamp basis, but I think djstore sell them in 2 packs for about £15.

I use branded lamps in all my disco lights, but always purchase from ebay, as they can be about half the price of what you'd pay in your local disco shop.

Matthew last time I checked, Fabtronic were doing the osram and philips at under £5 a lamp if you bought 5 or more.

I have to agree with you all on this one! Often explain this to customers.

Rarely will a Philips let you down prematurely. Hence I always prefer to sell them over cheaper bulbs.

I cant remember I have one in my car I think its an osram in a grey and black box 250w they were £7 each but if you bought 5 or more they were less than a fiver.

I use a set of Martin MX-1 Scanners as you know and lamplife in those is fantastic. I did use Philips focuslines in them and the lamps lasted 11 Months which is a long time even been used most weeks. Ive now got broadways in them now and they should last Ages.

My Martin EFX500 i bought last November and thats still on the original lamp a year later. Thats got a philips broadway in. So im not having to buy lamps every other week now. When i had the abstract extreme djs the lamplife in them was rubbish. So the Martin is a lot more efficient by a long stretch.

But i would go for a good brand of lamp. Would definetely recommend the broadways by philips.
