I have a few dry hires (i have the insurance to do this) over christmas and was just wondering if anyone had a basic hire contract template that they wouldnt mind me using?

Am sure some of the bigger outfits on here do hire out equipment and maybe give you a template, Why not try A1 (Tony), I think he hires and seems a resonable guy who is on the tech side to everything :D

Just found these from one of my old contracts, should give you some ideas so you are able to write your own contract (just change the 'COMPANY' to your name/company:

By signing this agreement, I agree that I am responsible for the repair or replacement costs of any item damaged or lost during the hire period. I agree to pay a charge at the full daily rate until equipment is replaced or repaired.

The customer shall insure the items at their own cost against the above liability.

Any breakdown or unsatisfactory operation of equipment shall be immediately notified to COMPANY.

I understand that it is my responsibility to ensure that all equipment is used in a safe manor, is earthed correctly and that each item is suitable for their intended purpose.

COMPANY cannot be held responsible for any injuries or death to persons or damages caused to other items or property resulting from incorrect or improper use of equipment.

The hirer agrees to pay a charge at the full daily rate of hire if equipment is not returned before 12.00pm on the arranged date of return.

The hirer shall under no circumstances attempt to repair equipment without prior authorisation from COMPANY.

All items listed above remain the property of COMPANY.

Mine..


1) I confirm acceptance of the quotation referenced above, for hire of equipment between the times specified.
2) I agree that in the event of the equipment being lost or stolen whilst in my possession or care, I am liable to reimburse Revolution Discos for the full cost of the items. I also guarantee that the hired equipment will not be damaged, misused or modified in any way and that I am liable for the cost of repairs or replacement should any of these occur to the unit.
3) The units must not be re-hired or lent to any third party.
4) The equipment remains the property of Revolution Discos at all times during the hire period.
5) In the event of cancellation, any booking fee that has been paid will be forfeited. Cancellation charges will be made as follows –
• Notice given more than 90 days prior to event – None of remaining balance due
• Notice given 90-61 days prior to event – 50% of remaining balance due
• Notice given 60-31 days prior to event – 75% of remaining balance due
• Notice given less than 30 days prior to event – 100% of remaining balance due
6) Where setup is not carried out by Revolution Discos, I understand that a risk assessment must be carried out by me at the location I intend to use the hired equipment to identify and address any risks which may be present or likely to become present.
7) Revolution Discos will not be held responsible for any damage, loss or injuries incurred due to misuse of the hired equipment or incorrect operation / installation of such.


Point 3 doesn't really need to be there if you're hiring to other DJs/businesses, I think that one made it's snuck its way across from my original uplighting contract.

Ted - we only do wet hires (with technicians) as opposed to dry hiring out kit.
