DMX Patch leads?

Does anyone know where you can get, or even if you can get DMX Patch leads? I'm looking for DMX leads aroud 0.5 metres in length

Make them yourself. that was the advice i was give and 3 core power cable does just as well for short lengths (and works too).

I wouldn't recommend using mains cable. At the very worst, use standard mic/audio cable which should be ok for short runs with a low number of lighting effects.

You should ideally be using DMX cable which is manufactured to a specific resistance and therefore optimised to carry data signals.

When i posted up a uplighting query a number of months ago, the general consensus from everyone in the know who replied was that, as they were short runs, mains cable would be suitable. I went with that option and have not had a single issue with linking upto 20 colourbursts.

I was followign a thread on another forum where someone uses cat 5 networking cable for long dmx runs with no problems. Pretty handy as its really cheap as well.

I use standard 0.5mm black 3 core power cable and always have, never had an issue.
I know you are supposed to use shielded but I have 6, 9 & 12mtr looms containing power and dmx cables and all my trusses are prewired the same way. Never had a single glitch..:)

I have to say that's a new one by me, using mains cable! Theoretically, there will be a lot more noise in the cable, but I would imagine it would work in short-ish lengths, which seems to be confirmed here! :)
