I wouldn't say my view of craplins products would change, knowing they originate from a company that went into administration earlier this year.

Just my 2p.

I guess when it breaks down they'll bin it and wish they'd spent a little extra and bought something decent in the first place.

Buy once, cry once.

As far as I'm aware, Maplin's stuff used to be made by Carlsbro (going back a few years now), but its now bought directly in from China (and bears remarkable similarity to stuff badged up as StudioMaster).

unfortunately you're probably wrong there Ted.

like every other retailer/brand at this level, it's just about sticking badges on imported boxes

As I said, a few years ago it used to be Carlsbro, it's not any more. The old 2 ton 1Kw amps which were built like bit black bricks were Carlsbro, the ones with the blue lights on the front which they introduced about 2yrs ago aren't.

Just because they are made in the carlsboro factory does not mean they are made from the same components. I worked in a factory making parts for different labels and we where told to use certain grade of components for different brandings.

They can stick it in the bin like I did with a powered carlsbro mixer I bought. What a waste of money, what a heap of manure!

It was an early purchase and one of those it filled an immediate need situations. Bad decision, but you live and learn.

Carlsbro is now a big no for me. I learnt the hard way to avoid cheap gear as I am sure most of us have in one shape or form.
