Dont know if this is the right section---

I am having problems logging on to Barclays Internet Banking ---my wife has exactly the same problem. Bit of a worrying coincidence.:(

I got some bull :Censored: from them this week over the phone after explaining im not some idiot who cant type the right numbers and letters into a computer:bang:

They say that my record was corrupted or technically not working which I do not believe, anyway I could then get access.

Once again last night access denied on the lines ---WHO ARE YA!

Never heard of you:eek:

:bang: :bang: :bang:

Has anyone suffered same problem recently?

I have my suspicions which for legal reasons I cannot state:D

thanks

All of the Santander systems are down today. Don't know if it's linked or just a coincidence. A & L and Nationwide are working fine though. Barclays are a pile of pony anyway!

Nope, no problem for me. Logged in OK last night and have just tried today and I can log in fine.

Do you use the PINsentry?

I won't internet bank as I believe it is less than secure. I have my bank managers card so have a direct line to the branch if required.

I also pay £12.99 per month for my personal account. For this I get free breakdown cover and free travel insurance, so not far off breaking even on the deal. I also get UK call centres as part of the priveledge which makes life a lot easier and access to my branch by phone. I would highly recommend it as you get the customer service by paying for your account.

Internet banked for about 8 years; never had an issue, security or otherwise.

Pretty much my experience. Nothing worse than a minor niggle to contend with.

Thanks Tony, dont try today--- the site is down for err maintenance.
.
Yes what a nightmare that pin sentry is and that is the problem I suspect.

Until that was foisted on me --I had no choice--everything was fine.

I spoke to Barclays last week who said my account was running fine--oh good is that why I cant use it then I said :bang:

They then changed their mind made some unspecified "adjustments" and it worked ---well just the once you understand then developed the same fault.

I put this in the same category as most technology functions--works a lot of the time but sometimes goes awol---like my sat nav in Central London last night---couldnt make its mind up which way to go and kept recalculating my route:eek:

I do EXCLUDE my Cortex from that criticism though.

Anyway, I managed to blag my way into my account by telling the computer I had lost the wretched pin sentry and guess what after giving the computer my confidential info it let me straight in.

Tomorrow I will try again but im not hopeful--I am convinced using the fault finding process we all use on Disco equipment--by systematically removing components one at a time to discover the weak link---its got to be PIN sentry because thats the only thing thats been added to the original process -- if you by pass it theres no problem.;)

What gets up my nose is that intelligent and professional people like ourselves are subjected to a costed phone call to some guy abroad who treats you like a brainless muppet instead of asking whether you are a regular experienced user of the internet going on the banking website on a daily basis--in other words you will know the passwords, procedure etc better than they do---then its time to be fast tracked to the IT helpdesk---:D

I will update tomorrow--any predictions?

Intelligent Finance. Problem is they're not taking new current accounts.

I have a couple of friends who swear by First Direct for the same reasons... might be worth a shufty.

pretty much the same here, apart from one occasion when I entered the wrong password three times & ended up having to re-set it.

Name of Bank?

Nat West.

Funnily enough, it was only a couple of months ago that it happened.

I think I was getting my business online banking password mixed up with my personal one.

After a few attempts, it locked me out (a bit like cashcards if you put in the wrong pin several times).

It was quite easy to sort out, though. It just took me to a screen where I had to answer a couple of security questions (DOB & Mother's maiden name, I think) and then allowed me to set a new password.

I have had an HSBC account for years , along with their internet banking , no problems so far.
but for some reason my current account always has" Over drawn" next to it

Strangely HSBC is the only traditional bank in our very small High Street we havent used yet.

Nat West let me down badly (cant be specific on here but we got compo)
and Barclays Computers for Internet Banking are wobbling as we speak--well not actually available today due to 10,000 mile service or similar:D

Bad service annoys me, personal inconvenience and time wasting even more

They always gets the same treatment---we switch to someone else:mad:

It's a very long story about why I left Nat West after being with them for thirty years. A mate suggested moving my custom, and HSBC was the first one I walked into. Overall I've had excellent service from them. Others report experiences diametrically opposed to mine. Hey ho. If they aren't providing a suitable service, vote with your feet (or keyboard) Alan.

I still cant get into my Banking Internet account nor can my wife despite an overhaul of the Barclays site today.

They have one last chance tomorrow or I will be changing to HSBC.

I get tired of phoning people about things that should be working automatically.

If we gave people this service we would be out of business.
