My 4ft deckstand starcloth 'died' at the start of a disco last week and only just had time to look at it. 3 of the 5 wires have become 'detached' from the 5 pin connector and I've tried all possible combinations reconnecting them to no avail.
So basically, I'm looking for another one as I do prefer them to plain cloth and also, the christmas disco's require a starcloth set-up (requested).
Budget is fairly limited but as I'm buying afresh I thought I'd go for the serge wool ones (rather than the crinkly plastic one I had before). Seen this (http://www.sounds4uentertainment.co.uk/njd-deck-mounting-professional-star-cloth-kit-21-x-12m-1068-p.asp) but it seems to cheap to be any good. Have any of you used these and are they decent?
Any alternative suggestion would be most welcome (and yes, I have used the search facility)

Could you not solder a new plug on??
5 pin DINs cost around 83p, I may have some in the workshop if you struggle.
Same goes for XLR plugs (83p). I then solder in a resistor 2p....lol
Hey presto a DMX Terminator ;)

NJD serge cloth.
Cheap but most definitely not cheerful. Well recommended.
Great quality, linkable if you have more than one. My only complaint is that it's not DMX'able but the handheld controller has dozens of programs so no need.

OK, I don't know which wires go where?
And I'd rather buy a new serge wool one hence my link.
If Vectis recommends them (at £89) I reckon I'll order one straight away.

Regardless of buying a new cloth or not, it's worth your while fixing the old one as you're guaranteed to get at least £80 for it on eBay.
Do you know what make it is? I'm sure someone on here has a similar one and could open up a connector to let you know the Pin out?

I have heard gleeming reports, regarding the NJD starcloth.
I will be buying one very soon.

Many folk besides the oracle which is Vectis regard the NJD as best value.

Ok, it's a Prolight LEDJ Starcloth. The connector has 5 wires (red, green, blue, white & yellow). It would be a great help if someone could open one up (as Julian has so helpfully suggested) and tell me which wires go to which pins.
You never know, it might appear on here for sale if / when it's fixed.
My other option is to sell it in it's none-working condition for a bargain price to someone who is handy with a soldering iron :D ;) :p

Totally agree.
The NJD cloth is very good quality. Been using mine for about a year now and still in good condition and easy to clean (after it had several pints poured down:mad:).
Would highly recommend and that price is a lot less than the price i paid

Read elsewhere that the NJD cloths are out of stock, everywhere, although still being advertised by many!!!!

Make sure you give them a ring and check stock before ordering. I've made that mistake before.

Just gonna do that now, although Amazon uk says they have some in stock but a bit more expensive (£114)

Just ordered one from Amazon, a little bit more than planned (£114) but everywhere else I rang said 5-7 weeks as they have no stock! Plenty of the 6ft ones but no 4ft ones.
Oh well, should be the proud owner of a serge wool starcloth shortly, no more wrinkles :D :p :D

Probably not the rght time to tell you that I use a 6ft cloth on both a 6ft deckstand AND a 4ft deckstand then. Used on the 4ft stand I just fold it back on itself and secure with a discrete bit of black gaffa. Saves buying two!

not sure on the price difference but I doubt I'll ever use a 6ft deckstand, I've seen them 'in the flesh' and they are MASSIVE! :D

Use mine for most gigs. Console, lighting touchscreen computer, video computer and sometimes the karaoke laptop too means it's a bit like SS Enterprise :D

Bad News :Censored: :bang:
The company I had ordered the NJD star cloth from (apparently) sent it to the wrong address - I think he was fibbing as he said they couldn't send it back
He did offer a full refund but would have preferred the star cloth obviously.
All the other places I rang are out of stock so I guess I'll have to wait until around (or just after) Christmas :(
I am not a happy bunny!!!
