It has to be said that Apple (and it's friends) are THE single biggest enemy of the mobile DJ - or any DJ for that matter!
These people are so utterly clueless yet thrust their naive ideas about how to entertain a crowd down impressionable numpties' throats..:mad::mad:
IT'S NOTHING BUT A :Censored: TOY FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE!!!!!!! arrrrgggghhhhh!!!!

Why are they the enemy? It's just a toy/gimmick...the DJ world has nothing to fear, lol.

I know that, you know that and the rest of us on here know that :D.... but it doesn't stop these toy makers trying to convince your average Joe otherwise:DJ:

Fantastic--and you dont need headphones---love it.
That is until it breaks down at 11 57pm on New Years Eve or on the first Dance at a Wedding:eek:
As has been stated cant see it as a serious threat or tool for Professional Mobile DJs because I cant see the build quality being good enough.
Like the brides Father at my last Wedding who proudly played his carefully prepared ipod selection to the guests during the meal---only to be jeered and laughed out the place when it froze:eek:

I had to fill in with my trusty Cortex while he worked out the problem--it took 10 minutes for him to accept that the technology had let him down.
At one stage I was accused of being the cause of the problem even though I was out the room at the time visiting the small boys room:eek:

Because they invented the ipod, of course...and if I had to use an external hard drive, I wouldn't have a clue as to how to get my music onto it or update it, which means I probably would have left it longer before going digital.

Ok being simple here, what happens if you get a call during playback? Ringtone amplified over speaker system? Could make people jump a bit.

Most MP3 players, and indeed USB hard drives, are plug 'n' play - just connect it to your USB port, and drop your files into it - easy! :)

To be fair in the instructions (in the apps store) it says it should be switched into flight mode before use. Am I going to download it? No not at that stupid cost. As said I would think of it more as a toy.

I would not say that, that would be fantastic back up if everything went wrong. all you have to do is pull it out your pocket and bobs your uncle.
Im definitely buying it when i get an iphone next year. Also very handy when at friends parties and thier music taste is shocking.
At the end of the day ots not the equipment that makes the DJ, its the track selection and behaviour.

Hey Rob, come on. I've managed it without any help from Apple at all. How difficult can it be?
Mind you I had a lot of help from the Forum. ;)

I think it looks interesting enough to have a go... I would never use it at a gig though! As stated above, I have been caught on the hop before with the odd random request and have downloaded to the blackberry to then play out. It is certanly cheaper than the pacemaker. . . .

Going back to topic...........
Since reading this thread, I bought the application and although it is just good enough for a bit of fun, it is actually very good.
One of the major drawbacks is that you can't use the tracks in itunes to play about with.

Right, that's it then isn't it - I'm selling all my audio gear and going with Apple iDJ - it's the way ahead - think of the set up and down time, fantastic - intoa venue, throw a few lights and your speakers up - Use that case/table that Angela recommended, stick the mixer on there and rock on down with my ipod touch - genius - in and out in 20 minutes ........................;) :zip:

So, then Shaun, will you be in a hurry to use it for your next gig? :D

You'd just use Windows Explorer like you use for saving documents, images etc.

Who said anything about a Mixer ? :o
But on a more serious note, if anyone was considering using it, then I would not reccomend connecting a wire out of the earphones port, better to purchase an Ipod soundcard (Yes, they are available for around £20 ish) that connects to the bottom Apple connector and converts the signal to RCA.
