Just bought my self a Canon 500D. :D All I can say so far is that is one AWSOME camera! Just need to learn how to use it. :o £500 inc £50 cash back and I got a free Bag worth £80. :D I shall see what it is like on the road for the gigs and that. I will post up some samples if I can find any non incriminating ones. :d

They are brilliant cameras and you will have a lot of fun with it. The only thing is the lenses. They cost a fortune! And you will get lens envy.

There's always Christmas. I've got it it's perfect for at gigs as you don't have to be up in people's faces etc.

As an owner of a 300D, 350D and 450D I can assure you that with a bit of learning they'll be producing some fine photos Callum.
Strangely though despite its age and relatively low resolution I still find the 300D is best for gig pictures. Pretty sure Dynamic Steve bought one for this very purpose too.

I'm considering getting the Sony A380
no more useless auto focussing and lighting issues

The 18-55mm "Kit Lens" is adequote for close up shots of people etc, but I find the zoom isn't as good as I would like it to be.
The only problem is, the more magnification (generally speaking), the bigger the lens, which means more cases to carry around with you.
