So, it's officially the start of the Christmas rush for me, though quite slow this weekend (If that makes sense)
I personally am doing a Westlife tribute tonight and a James Bond night tomorrow and also have a teen party and 2 x Grease nights on.
What about you?

Christmas starts for me tonight. I've got a 15 night residency in a converted train station passenger terminal in Bristol. That'll take me up to the 21st, although the first couple of weeks start slowly.

Like last year, no Christmas rush for me this year (through choice).
Amazingly, tonight is my first Friday off for 5 weeks (yes, I know it's unbelievable!).
Tomorrow is a 40th birthday party in the small back room of a fairly local pub for about 40-50 people.
After that, the only other discos this year are a wedding on 12th December & new year's eve in a pub.
Do I win the prize for the least December discos, or does anyone have less than two?

Last weekend off before Silly Season starts for me: will be using the weekend to sort some playlists ready for next Saturday night (5th) - the only disco I'm doing (so far) this season, as a favour to my agent. It's a v. low-payer but I should up/down in half an hour.
HOWEVER, this could potentially mean I steal the wooden spoon from you Rob..... unless another DJ falls ill and the agent rings in a panic....
Might use the time to solder some IEC plugs and even have another crack at getting my bl00dy maya 44 usb to actually play V-DJ out from both sides. <Technophobe alert!>
After this (11+12/12, 18+19/12) have walk-in singing shows in a nice Cardiff hotel: set up mixer+monitor+mic (+maybe 2 par64s) on 11th and take down on 19th: 45-60 mins live and I hand over to resident DJ and leave for drinks. Noice. Now if only I can remember the words to "Sweet Caroline".....
Still waiting for confirmations on 2 other gigs and still no news of NYE.... a rubbish rubbish rubbish "Winterval" for me this year :-( :-(

Christmas parties - what are they :D :D
Apart from a residency giving me 18 dates (from 10.30 till midnight ;) ) I only have 1 christmas party.
Mind you, if things go as other years, there will be plenty of last minute calls.
Bit off topic - I had a call today for a football team xmas disco. I quoted and was told I was far too expensive as they have been offered a disco for £50. I asked why they had not taken this other disco then ?? After she hesitated for a while, I interrupted and said 'because you are worried about booking someone SO cheap'. She agreed and said they used the guy last year and he did not show up, but as they can get a disco for £50 that is their budget :bang:

We'll have to wait & see!
That fact that I'm only doing 2 discos in December doesn't mean I'll be quiet, though...as I still have 18 quiz nights to think about, including one on Christmas eve.

Just had a karaoke on this weekend.
It was Katie's 3rd birthday yesterday and I took her, Liam (who is four next Friday ) and Daniel out for the day. We ended up visiting two different Santas in two different towns so you could say the festive season definately started for me!
But, they do say Christmas is all about the kids, don't they?!? Mind you, I'm the biggest kid I know!!!

I had something similar last week. A girl rang wanting a disco for a party for volunteers at a local stables. She asked a lot of questions (like what does she get for her money? Erm, a disco!!!) and then said she was quoted £80 so I said "Ok. Good luck, then!". She said "Oh, but he's not available now but I was speaking to someone who could do it for £120 and can you beat that?". Swift answer? "No!". I said I do her a basic disco and give her a discount to match the price seeing as it was for unpaid volunteers who do a lot of work at the stables with disabled people and kids. She said she'd see her boss but never got back to me.
Hope her night went well!
