I am beginning to get the feeling that the free version of Spotify is louder and clearer than my actual ipod.

The Ipod is 320kbps, and Spotify I think is 190kbps or less

Can this be happening :D

How do you mean louder? :confused:

One is an MP3 player, one is a piece of computer software? :confused:

Running Spotify on the computer seems louder and perhaps slightly clearer too, based on the default gain settings with the Ipod tracks.

Well your PC and Ipod more then likely have different sound cards or whatever effecting the finaly result of the same track?

Yes, the amplification is louder, and yes it's not techincally an 'amplifier' in there, before Tony corrects me, just something to power the earphones, I'm not entirely sure what though.

What are you on about?

Are you saying, that putting your headphones in the computer to use spotify is louder than when you put your headphones in your ipod? If so - then that's obvious? It means that your computer soundcard has more headroom than that of the output of the ipod?

In which case I really do not see how you can compare one to another - they are different devices with different sound processors.
