Morning!

right, I have had a request from a client, who wants a mirrorball effect for her wedding with red light.

The problem is, the venue has now real space to hang a mirrorball with pin spots etc. Is there an effect I can hang on a goalpost with similar results?
Possibly a cluster laser? or is there dedicated mirrorball-esque effects?

any guidance would be much appreciated

This (http://www.htfr.com/more-info/MR303963) should do the trick- dmx so you could select just red.
Not bad little effects if you want to imitate a mirror ball.
Have used the white ones in the past.

There are many effects on the market at the moment who are supposed to give off a mirror ball effect but none are anywhere near as good as the real thing.
personally the cluster laser would not be suitable.

What about hanging something like this: http://www.jpleisure.co.uk/item322.htm
on the side of your goal post with the bottom facing out and pin spots attached to the sides of your posts?

I use a pair of American DJ Sunray TriLED's as they are a Mirror Ball effect, and i think you can set the dip-switches to choose which colour you want.

the other option is just hang the mirror ball on the goalpost- thats what i do all the time and its fine- put the pinspots on the uprights and away you go.
