Tomorrow night I'm covering a gig for another forum member so he can go off on his works Christmas party.

As I do I popped over to the venue this afternoon to say hello , check load in etc etc.

It's at a local hotel that run Christmas party nights . I'm sure you know the score arrive 7, sit down 7.30 meal finishes around 9/ 9.30pm then disco until midnight.

When I asked how many were booked in for it I was told 10, I said is that per table and she said "No 10 in total" :eek: :eek:


Could be a very interesting night especially as they're all from the local HSBC!

I did one for Lloyds TSB last year - not only were they sooooooooo late sitting down and getting scoff down their throats, half of them looked ready for the grave as it was.

There was only around 30 max (was told Ummmm event for 150!!!)

As soon as the meal finished, before I could even start to play a song, 20 of them left and went home - great night!!!!!!!!!!!!

They actually tried to book me this year as well for heavens sake - I did say I was perming my hair that night to decline the booking :eek: :lol:

I did a christmas party for 7 women in their 50's a couple of years ago. They loved it. I just went over to their table and said "I'll play whatever you like so just blast me with requests". Those 7 women were well up for it and had a ball.

Luckily, all of my parties this year are all at capacity (140) so it should be interesting too.

I honestly am going to a Xmas party...my first ever in 17 years of employment!

It would be fair to say that this hotels' Xmas season is starting with more of a whimper than a bang, but hey ho.

On the brght side, I'm sure we've all done gigs with hardly any people present that have turned into a great night...failing that you mght make last orders in your local! However it turns out, thanks for covering Paul. I'll see you tonight!

I had a christmas party last year where about 30 turnedn up. It was a sit-down meal, then drag act, then me. I played all of 3 songs before the bus arrived to take them all home :)

Jusrt tell them how lucky they are to have thier very own DJ for the evening and play every request they ask for.

They will love it!!! does not matter if the music is rubbish as they will feed off each other.

The venue called Jon at 4pm and said it was cancelled :eek: :eek:

Both Jon and myself had spoken to them this week and I was over there yesterday afternoon. No mention of it being cancelled.

Apparently one of the managers was supposed to sort it during the week :bang:

Oh well at least I wasn't on my way :D

And before anyone starts giving it "Did you have a contract", "cancellation fee" etc etc, it's all in hand ;)
