Call me an old dinosaur if you like, but I still don't trust wireless braodband, which is why we are 100% CAT5

Friends and colleagues talk of being able to sit in cars outside homes/offices and being able to browse a choice of networks they can log on to from their laptops - scary stuff!

i'm sat behind the rig browsing on my phone, daren't touch the laptop as its running all the disco lighting for plus a bit of stage lighting. Bit of a weird layout here as people have to walk behind the rig to get to the bogs. Getting fed in a bit so will go sit in the bar i reckon.

Exactly.

Wireless stuff might me more convenient, but it's also more insecure, so I refuse to have anything wireless.

Your story about people sitting outside homes & browsing a choice of networks is a reality. They did it on "The Real Hustle" using very basic equipment, and logged into a number of people's wireless networks...even when they were password protected.

They were then able to see & print out everything on the home user's screens, including credit card details, online banking details, passwords & even details of a holiday booked online...so they knew when that particular house would be empty.

Like you say Tony...scary stuff.

That's why my 'network' only allows PCs known to it allow access to anything. Using the PCs ID number. That really messes with people when they sneak my WEP key. :D

That'll teach me to read whole threads properly in future. In my defence, I had my youngest son (nearly 9 months old) staying with me last night and he had me up early this morning. I can try can't I.

Well, to paraphrase another thread.....

Hello Wembley!

Set up nice & early after yesterday's 3 rigs in 3.5 hours marathon.

Hardly anyone here yet. I'm guessing the X Factor crowd are still getting ready to go out as there was no signs of life at the studio when I passed it.

Quo fans aren't around yet. Usually have them til about 8 - 8:30.

Just chilling for an hour now until I start the background.

Was so knackered last night. I moved my rig from the restaurant to one of the function rooms for secure lock up (glad it's all on wheels). When I got the Ultimax round there I let go of it & realised that it was the Ultimax that was holding me up. My legs had turned to jelly & I was doing a fair impression of the Scarecrow from the Wizard of Oz. A most strange feeling.

No mate, a Car Park. One of the last ones was on street parking, a set of steps, a hundred yard dash, while looking out for the dreaded traffic wardens. This one's a doddle. Apart from the moron who blew his horn cos I was in the right hand lane on a roundabout, indicating right, and turned right. What did I do wrong?
