World cup and gigs clashing

Well , now we know who and where England are going to be playing how are you going to watch the game if you're gigging?

With the games on the 12th (USA) & 18th (Algeria) of June they clash with Wedding gigs already booked but at least I've nothing in for the 23rd (Slovenia) yet.

Not sure if I'll have one of those mini tvs behind the rig or just nip out to the nearest tv when there's a long track playing :D


Has anyone had any thoughts on how they'll do it?

I won't, beacuse I'm not interested in it.

Even if I WAS interested, I certainly wouldn't be watching it on any kind of TV at the venue, because I'd be giving 100% to what I was being paid for.

I certainly wouldn't be too impressed if a plumber came to my house to do a job & wanted to watch the TV while he was working!

To be honest I agree with Rob on this one. Overpaid morons kicking a ball about is not my idea of entertainment. Its a complete farce anyway with the way the qualification process has been fixed as much as possible.

Actually I've got a 5 inch portable that hides behind my rig quite nicely. Was utilised during the Rugby World Cup.

Speaking of which, I did watch England - France on a big screen whilst at a gig......




Along with everyone else there. They were rugby fanatics & were not prepared to miss the match. Even for their own wedding reception.

I have to agree with Rob. I am there to do a job so I will do it and give it my best and cater for those that want to have a laugh and a good time and not watch the football. I can always catch the highlights the next day.

Ive already had a request for my 22 inch tv system (usually used for showing slideshow of photographs) to be hired for the matches at both of my weddings ive got booked....and expect more to follow. :D

I dont see how you work that out, theres just no point getting hopes up when we all know we wont win or come close, its just a stupid game full of over paid babies.

I didn't even consider this, but I suspect it wouldn't make a difference because once again, we're not going to be there :(

Of course, it goes without saying that if I'm booked, I would simply miss the game, there's no two ways about that.

With regards to the comment made about there being no point watching if you're not going to win.... well, I must be clinically insane, as I haven't missed a Scotland match over the last 7 years - and believe me, we lose a lot more than we win! :( :beer1:

I don't care though. Win, lose or draw, there simply isn't a greater feeling than standing in the middle of 50,000 fellow fans at 14:55 in Hampden Park, with a deafening roar of excitement and anticipation echoing around the stadium... of course, the mood is usually slightly dampened 90 minutes on :daft:

As for England, I don't think they will win it, but they certainly should make the quarter finals, at least.

If you have an interest in any sport, then you watch it, regardless of whether you think people are going to win.

Which qualification process would that be then, the group stages that were drawn and played over 18 months or the newly introduced FIFA play-off seeding's (which were unfair) either way its clear you haven't a clue what you're saying and are jumping on some sort of bandwagon.

Not a clue have we. We Are IN THE FINALS, that's what comes from winning your qualifying group (see above)

You really don't have a clue - If you look beyond the group stage (which is a gimme, and I won't accept the 'don't get complacent card'), and If everything works out as expected the toughest game on route would be Holland in the semi's - Bar a major upset we won't or should I say can't face a traditional major side until the final.

We (England) are a genuinely good side at the moment, and I've never said that or even thought this way since the knock out stages of the 1990 world cup finals when Bobby R changed the system from the group stages. We are 1 of 5 countries who will win the world cup next year, and for that reason I'm very excited with the draw, and the way it should pan out :D :D :D

I took my first F.A Coaching badge in that year and have held the UEFA 'A' Licence for nearly 10 years, so I've got a bit of room to speak.
