Right, im re branding my company with a more professional look in the new year.

The new name is Subsonic.

My new site is aimed at getting younger generation discos & also a lot of hire services etc.

My main question is that im unsure what domain to buy as www.subsonic.com & .co.uk are gone.

Currently i have found

subsonicdj.com & .co.uk

Subsonicpro.com & .co.uk

subsonicevents.co.uk (although i don't think im big enough to be "events" yet.

Any opinions would be great as im struggling to decide

Cheers!

the last one. "events" are what you cover.

IMO it's a brave man who wants to establish a web presence using a name which is already in use by another company in the same field, and thoroughly embedded in the search engines.

I'd be looking to give myself a headstart and coming up with a unique name.

hi vectis,

I could only find one other - www.subsonicdiscos.com in the uk?

Im trying to go into the hire and events side so dont think we would cross over too much?

www.subsonicdiscos.co.uk is a member here - DK Frankie (http://www.forum.mobilediscodirectory.co.uk/member.php?u=544).

Whoosh! :o :p

My point was not about competing ... it was about trying to build a brand identity for yourself (on the web, primarily, that being the 21st Century way) when the existing Subsonic already has the #1 choice domain and is already established with the search engines and directory sites.

Coming onboard with the same name is going to be one hell of an uphill struggle to gain visibility not to mention confusion for potential clients.

Doesn't have to be ... you just need to know the measure of the cow before you start charging at it.

But if I were rebranding, which I did a few years back when I moved from the mainland, I'd make life a lot easier for myself by finding an identity which would be unique and therefore easy to establish.

I completly agree, how did you come up with your name?

Vectis is an old Roman name for the Isle of Wight ... there's quite a few companies here called Vectis Something-or-Other ... and Vibe has a kind of a musical "vibe" about it :D and of course alliterates nicely with Vectis. It's also very easy to communicate over the phone as folks know how to spell it, and as a relatively short word of 3 syllables is easily remembered.

ah very clever! Just had another thought Energize Events? Cant find anything similar to that!
Think this maybe a winner, sounds better than subsonic (no offence to frankie)
