RCF ART 705 background noise

As the title says having set up the 705's with my 312's in the dining room :D there is background noise when the speakers are turned on. It's not a humming noise more of a you know like the early pc 's used to make kind of if you know what I mean :D

I can disconnect the speakers from the play out and it's still there :confused:

Have swapped cables etc, tried a different plug socket but it persists!

Any help would be great ;)

Mine do this but it's more of a hiss......not sure about RCF's but I thought they were the same type....could be wrong.:o

Not really a hiss as such but with the subs plugged in it's like a binary code type sound ;)

Maybe HF hiss?

You get a very good top end with RCF ( after my experience using some at the last Wedding ) so perhaps its just unavoidable if your in a quiet room not playing music.

No idea really but the speaker is (even without input from the play out) ticking over because the active amp is live in the cabinet presumably ?

Its no different to a passive set up where sometimes there is a slight hiss from the horns even without music plugged in, just the amp turned on.

No doubt Darren or Twin Spin can throw some light on it:D

Not much help, but I use RCF passives in a venue which has them installed and suffer from simial problems. When talking to a singer at a wedding fayre I done once, she had just bought RCF speakers and also suffered similar ???

Try it in a bigger room and you probably wont notice much?

Its just itching to thump out some sound?

it didnt work. I thought the HF inputs on the sub were faulty. But the next night i was working in a different venue powered up the PA and no other noises other than the normal.

The best way to find out would be to take the PA to someone who you know and ask if you can set it up there and see if they are ok then

I had a hum through my system tonight, and it went away when I unplugged the laptop from the mains - this was just being used for DMX, so not linked to the mixer in any way, apart from sharing the same mains feed.

sounds like a noisy mains supply in the venue,i use a mains filter in my set up cures 90% of silly noises.

Obviously you need to get all RCF users on here to set up in their dining rooms and report bacK ASAP.:D :D :D

I too was very sceptical about electric supplies making noises BUT in Essex last year I hit the problem---ricketty old wooden pre fab hall with ancient electrics to match:eek:

Every now and then I got a loud "pop" over the speakers.

Naturally the hall keeper said my equipment was at fault---

Naturally I said your talking b......s after flashing my PAT certificates at him.

Wasnt a big issue but was annoying.

Strangely this noise hasnt been heard since on my equipment on any gig since--using my powers of deduction Id say it was the Halls electrics;)
