Hi
Is there a program that can scan a folder on your hard drive (with karaoke files in) and make a song book?

Many thanks

Try MP3 Collector at www.collectorz.com (I think). I used this once and it was pretty good.

Does it? My version never scanned your hard drives. My version is simply a karaoke database that you tick the discs that you have and it compiles your book for you.

You've got me thinking I'm missing out here. I paid good money for my copy direct from the publisher. I think I'll email Airwer and ask for an upgrade!

Phew! Read that just in time! Had the email ready and waiting to hit send!!

Only kidding. I was fairly sure I knew what you meant. I just wanted you check and make sure!! ;)

I've used KSLC for quite a while now and I'm sure Airwer would have made me aware of any improvements such as that!

Karaoke songbooks....waste of time.

If you use an electronic source of karaoke...ie vdj ect.
The songs are all scanned into the database, and flagged with a blue 'k' in the search engine.

At the end of the day people that want to sing, already know what they can and can't sing, so just tell em, there is no book, come and see me and tell me what you want to do....then search for it, if you haven't got it, ask them for something else...make a mental note of what they asked for,and if it's worth it, get it for next time.

Brings the socialising back into dj Karaoke parties.

I sort of agree there, You could just say that you have the current charts, and most things up to that date, and maybe have a list of the top 50 hits or whatever.

No need, just place it in a playlist or waitlist within the program.

If your after a songlist which you can print out and use ie: for karaoke i use "song list generator" if its a case of a list people have give you just save it as a word/notepad/what ever document and read it like that or do as Get Me A Dj said and add the songs to the playlist.

If all fails why not jot the MAIN requests down on a sticky notepad (20p loacally) and use that

Cheers Dave :)

I don't think it's either helpful or professional to tell a punter to pick a song because there's no song books available. It also stinks of ''I've got a hard drive with 22,000 karaoke tracks on it'' if you know what I mean.
When I used to 'be a punter' the book was most helpful as it was a printed prompter of songs that I wanted to sing (or at least try to).
There are places on the net that will produce an Excel or similar file for you to take to your local printer. All you have to do is provide them with the names of the karaoke discs that you have - and pay them a nominal fee.
I use Karaoke Song Book Creator as I find it comfortably accurate (the occasional duff line of data) and it's easy to use.

Since I started off a few years ago,I now have all my karaoke on a hard drive. Literally thousands of songs but dont have any books for people to look at as there are too many songs to put in.
It wasn`t a problem for a while as I only did karaoke as part of my mobiles if required. But I have now picked up a residency with karaoke being the main part of it.
Do I go along with the... "don`t have books,as I have too many songs" or make a smaller book with e.g "sunhits collection only" ,as taster/reminder of singer/songs that are available?
Making the books ( probably only 2 or 3 tho`) wont be a problem as I have KSLC songbook creator.
I personally like to see books when going to places that have karaoke
......maybe its the fact i now have to spend so much time (& money) making up new books . The hours i spent years ago doing that!!!:bang:
Whats your thoughts guys`.

Personally I feel a karaoke book is needed as it gives people inspiration.
I don’t know if my way is the easiest but I use Excel, when I add to it, I add the songs at the bottom and then get Excel to resort the list.
Printing wise I get it printed on box standard A4 and bind it with a Twinlock, I get a local printing company to print mine only because it saves me hammering my poor inkjet.
Cost wise its about £10 for a set of four.

Sorry Karaoke without books isnt really a karaoke in my book. Its a right ball ache and I'm in the middle of doing it but its going to make the gigs run better and smoother so gotta be done!

I still use karaoke books even though i am digital now (and yes i have a Pro dub license)... Although i don't update my books in whole anymore - i just tend to make an update book now and then with the new additions etc...

I tell my singers that if they cannot find what they are looking for, to come and speak to me and i'll check my database on the laptop... if i don't have the song - i will try and buy it for next time :)

When i do update and create my books though i use >> Karaoke Books creator at www.karaokebooks.com - you can also add custom discs and tracks :)

Thank you

Glenn

Funny isn't it. I use books for karaoke but would find it highly unusual if someone asked me if I had a book for normal disco requests.

Started the residency last Friday. Despite there being only about 7 or 8 people there for the opening night, I had singers all night.

oops, presssed enter before i had finished...i did actually have books made up. i used 4 old books which had all the classic karaoke tracks and songs up to 2009. i added another 10 pages to each book to bring it up to date. i let them know(all 8 of them) that i had more songs available and to come up and see me with their request. as was already said, people like looking at books for reminders and it does come across as more professional... hoping for a better turn out this week as hotel promised to promote it more. now all i have to worry about is to organise a regular quiz which the hotel have asked me to do, which starts in a few weeks. i`ll have to raid some of the other threads to get help with that one:)
