Parking ticket

Does anyone know how to get out of one. I had one too many last night on my works xmas do, left my car in a car park, collected it at 8am this morning and had a ticket!!

alot depends on the circumstances. I've had 2 this year and managed to get both of them quashed :D

The first one was earlier in the year when I was still over in Liverpool and the number plates were nicked off my car :eek: I got a letter through the post about being parked in a residents bay near Anfield. It was the wrong tax disc number but as I'd reported to the Police I had a crime number and forwarded this to them.

The second one was at the local leisure centre in Alfreton where you need to display your members car pass. On the day concerned it was proper chucking it down and although I did display the pass it must have blown onto the floor as I shut the door. I wrote them a letter to that end with a copy of the car pass and they quashed that one :D

Although on the downside when I was working in London my Guvnor used to live just off Sloane Square and around there they hunt in packs! It was unfortunately an occupational hazard and I'd get at least one a month. never managed to appeal any of them :eek:

Probably not as you were in a car park.

Each LGA is individual in their own guidelines, but check the board/sign that is either in the car park or by the ticket booth. It should state what hours "night-time parking" are and if there is a cost (some provide it free, others charge a nominal amount...some even charge full wack) and ive a sneaking suspicion that if you had a ticket by 8am, their night-time parking (however they arrange the fee) would finish as 7am.

Your only possible out would be if the sign was damaged beyond recognition and their terms were no longer clearly visible. BUT you still have to have bought at ticket (if one was needed) in good faith anyway.

As someone who managed the Decriminalised Parking Enforcement for Cumbria, i think your not going to get out of it too easily.

PS, also check the ticket to make sure that they have got all the car details correct, and the warden should have taken time-stampmed photograps which should correspond with when the ticket was issued :)

Just pay it if its £25 and forget about it. You will be charged £50 if not more if it goes to court.

At the end of the day you have parked somewhere you should not have and are liable.

Its better than being clamped for £300!

Was it actually a council run car park? Check the parking ticket has actually been issued by the council and not a private parking company. Private parking tickets are, as I understand, not always enforceable.

Was the ticket given to you a valid ticket- ie should you not have parked there?
If so why not just pay it- a) because you shouldnt have parked there and b) because lifes too short to worry about these things.

:agree: do it on a credit card or something and forget about it. the stress of worrying and getting annoyed is allot worse than the payment. When you pay you will forget it (probably) :)

Seeking advice on how to break the law...admitting to under-age drinking....On this forum in the last 24 hours.

Add to this people delibrately tripping up pavements to claim...and others making fraudulent benefit claims....Britains not a great place to be!!??:bang:

You want to look in to moving to China, Iran or India. things should be looking good for them in a few years :p

When i had my transport firm ( stopped trading last year) i would get an average of two tickets a week when working in central London.
I used to appeal against all of them because i was in a comercial vehicle and would win about 70% of the cases.
When i stopped trading i had 7 :eek: appeal cases on the go and thank god that i won 6 out of the 7 appeal cases.:)
I have even had the parking warden puting a ticket on the vehicle when we were loading a Photocopier the size of a mini onto the tail lift:bang: .
One day we had to deliver a copier to one of the Parking contractors office in Buckingham Palace Road.
We use to install and demonstrate the copiers to the customer, but on this occasion we just installed the copier and said to the customer " we would give you a demonstration but we might get a parking ticket so we can't );)

Switzerland is always a good bet. They are apparently the most happy nation :D
