Spent more time driving than actually playing tonight!! I have a restaurant that always come to me for DJs even though it's almost a two hour drive away, started with a midweek in January about 3 years ago and the rest have seemed to fall on midweek dates, or quiet nights, so works quite nicely.
Anyhow, its a tiny poky place, so you can't get in to setup until after the meal finishes. So I'm booked to arrive for 9.30pm. Leave the house and 7, load up and arrive there for 9.15 to be told they'll probably be another hour and would I like some tea, yes please! The food is always great there, which is a nice bonus.
So after my second dinner of the night, I start to setup from about 10.15, ready by 10.45 and pretty much packed floor straight away - it's a joint 18th/21st for a brother and sister. He wanted house/dance music and she wanted metal, which I did warn them I didn't have much of and the best thing would to be to send me a request list so I can make sure I had the tracks she wanted.
As it happened, it was just the normal RnB/Dance and a bit of cheese and kept the floor going, did a bit of rock/indie as well but didn't go down as well as the "normal" stuff.
So a pretty good night overall, they were really going for it on the drinks with bottles of champagne being passed round and they must have got pretty tanked up during the meal. No problems though, except for the usually drinks on subs game :Censored:
Finished for 1.30, packed up and on the way home by 2.05 and arrived home about 25 mins ago. Left the camera in the van in the rush to get setup, so no photos I'm afraid - may post a playlist though if I remember to transfer it off the gig machine on Thursday.
