i was setting up for a kids party on Monday night, connected everything up as usual and turn it all on.

when i started some music playing, one channel was sounding very bad, crackling, distorted etc. I swapped some cables around without success. Whatever speaker was connected to the left amp channel was distorting.

In a rush, i just connected one speaker to the other, and ran the system in mono.

Next day, i set it all up at home, and it worked first time. Same cables, same amp etc. Its been used 3 times since, and its been fine.

Ive still no idea what was causing the problem. Anyone else experienced anything like this?

Yep I had a Carlsbro mixer amp that needed kicking to get it to sound right. Dry joint somewhere so scrapped it. Was pants anyway!

Could well be a dry joint.

Had a problem like that on Saturday I thought it was the speaker cable but in the end it turned out to be the phono lead coming off the sound card, it was on but not firmly enough.

thought of that , but i checked & changed all the sound cables, nothing made any odds.

could be a dry solder, but its been ok since, using it right now at a gig, ive got the spare one just in case though lol

Have you used the same volume at home as when you were at the venue, maybe a blown tweeter/horn!!

Only a musing, but condensation possibly? Since dried out and fault disappeared. I once had an amp which would perform faultlesssly as long as it was warm and dry, but if it ever got cold, it was a :Censored: er!

didnt matter how low or high the volume was,distortion was there. used the same speakers again a few time since.

thats a definate possability, i think it had been in the car all afternoon that day. hopefully it wont happen again.
