Dear all

Going back to the thread on my front of house and the genious idea I was given by one of our forum members.

This little beauty collapses down flat and takes up very little room in the transport. It is basically an old goalpost bar I had lying around. I got some bases from work for it and hey presto all I need is a star cloth making up and its a very large 3m front of house (or 1.5m if used as half in small venues) which is height adjustable. Also its sturdy and gives me two mounting points for LED pars to light upwards from (the end posts). Bases weigh loads so very sturdy for leaning punters;)

Very pleased and brill idea from the forum. I will get the star cloth made and get some photos in action.

Pictures below are off my phone again as I can't resize proper photos.

Happy bunny I am.:D

Looks good doesn't it.

Really pleased - couldn't believe the bases were a perfect fit. Can't wait to get it in action. Just need to get my buddy on my custom star cloth.

I've done similar in the past, using Speaker tripods to hold the crossbar up

You set me off down the route of bases and bits of crossbar - even if you had no idea what the end result would be it sowed the seed.

Cheers dude. :beer1:

Looking good. Very tidy. Nice to see and glad it's easy to transport. Logistics are everyhing when it comes to being a mobile DJ ;)
Thats exactly how I visioned Crazy K's rig, until he explained it to me.He only uses one tripod to mount a maoooosiive flag.

I have 4 tripods (raise from 5 to about 20ft) and 2 sections of that exact trussing, but I will never use them, so if anyone fancies making a similar rig PM me.

I'm liking this - I have this truss doing absolutely nothing as one of the tripods snapped earlier this year.

Talk to me about the base-plates - who, what, how, when, I-want-some etc etc

p.s. nice sofa by-the-way :D

I hang 2 starcloths from mine and treat it as a backdrop.....Didn't occur to me to reduce it and use it as a front of house....will have to look for another truss now....good idea!!

But surely that's not off of the 1970's :p

As long as you don't put eight random lighting fixtures along the top it will be all gravy. ;) :p :D

I need to talk to my works supplier about the base plates and sort a cost out. Happy to supply you with their details as long as they are happy with that - sure they will be, but its unreasonable of me to start handing their details out without their say so. Will come back to you on that.

Sofa was nice, but my three year old jumps all over it and has killed it a bit (you can't tell in the photos). Its in the summer room/second lounge so thats what its there for I suppose as he never gets into the front lounge. That's our sanctuary when he has gone to bed.

Please have a word with my missus about adult sanctuary's as the kids trash every room and crevice whilst she thinks it's ok as they're only kids :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang:

I,however, (as opposed to my public persona) would prefer a little bit of tranquil calm to call our own

Will call them tomorrow about the bases as need to return the two I have borrowed to work, so I need to buy a pair myself.

I have the luxury of having the space in the house to put one room aside and Mrs DJ has been in their all night on the much bigger sofa with the fire on watching Chatty Man, so she loves it. Wee man knows its off limits, so stays out.

Is that cruel? Nope its old school, a room for best. He has the rest of the place to run about in and even has his own play room.

Anyway will get onto those bases for you. Glad you like the idea. :)

Do you really need to post how good you think you are and how many bookings you take all the time in every thread? It's really getting tiresome to read fella.

nice, but I can see a :Censored:ed up chap pushing that over with no effort, no offence, if you were to 'brace' the back with a bar at 45 degree angle to the floor you may stand a chance, also got my black cloth with silver stars from a haberdashery...(is that how your ment to spell it?) shop for £3.00 per meter

I did something similar with two tripods, the problem was the tripod legs came up too high, effectively having your frontage at about 5' tall. Those base plates are a great idea, I might be interested in a pair too.

Not when it has a 6 foot catering table behind it and those bases are seriously heavy. Designed to stop flags going over. Plus it will be wedged in between the legs of my two powerdrives so its going to take some pushing over.

I am going for a custom star cloth which is more expensive, but a nice finish.
