It could be that Serato does not support tracks that have DRM (digital rights management) protection. I had the same issue with Traktor Pro.

You may find the answer on the scratchlive.net forums (we find these helpful)

We had a similar problem but for the life of me I can't remember what we did so solve it

That's right but Apple have contracts with major labels which means a large percentage of the tracks available contain DRM protection.

A way around the protection would be to burn the track to cd and then re - rip it. Obviously this would raise serious legal issues.

My itunes stuff works fine on Serato & Traktor Pro.

Have you tried converting the track in itunes to mp3 (at 320 kbps), and then analyzing the MP3 in Serato?

As far as I'm aware, itunes downloads no longer have DRM protection.

Yes they do you need to have itunes U, but even then not all tracks are DRM free

All my itunes downloads are m4a files, whch I thought were not protected.

As far as I'm aware, it's the m4p downloads itunes USED to sell which had the DRM protection.

I downloaded the new Scooter (I know, I know) track last week and that was protected. I must admit that most of the tracks I've had trouble with were from a while ago such as Axwell, Ingrosso et al - Leave the world behind.

I do remember reading something about them doing away with it now that you've mentioned it.

Thats great help.

i downloaded six tracks today and they all would not play. It shows a little broken itunes disk and has no content when dropped. :bang:

How do i convert the track?

- just changed to AAC and that version plays so thats something.
Do you know of any way to do this mid gig and have it show on serato without closing and reloading it?

Yeah, absolutely - quick pointer make sure your convert settings are to best quality (320), otherwise it'll automatically convert to 196

p.s. converting stuff in itunes while serato is open/running I think is a no no - sure I've read on the Serato forums that people are having major problems with their playout in Serato if itunes is open (or running in the background) at the same time - Can't remember the technicalities without going off to search.
