New sound system required

Hi Guys, sorry I aint been around much, bit manic at the moment.

Anyway, im looking for a decent (and loud ;) ) sound system for a new djs set-up next year. Preferably active and between the £500-£1000 mark.

I did find these at HTFR, http://www.htfr.com/more-info/MR318495 - Any good? Or what would you guys recommend?

I demoed them without the sub and I thought they were pretty loud and clear.

It was in a large room and they filled it pretty well, I'd imagine with the sub they would be pretty meaty indeed.

I ended up not going for them in the end, in fact the guy at the shop warned me about cheap imported badged products bla bla bla and then tried to sell me a bigger more powerful (and way more expensive system).

They were a bit heavy too I thought but I'm only wee :)

EDIT: For the money I think they'd be a crackin buy.

For the same money you could have a pair of srm 450 (v1's) which will give you more bang for your buck.

Yep, I would always suggest go for the Mackies. I have used my 450's pretty much twice a week for the last 5 years or so now without a problem.

Loud, smart and simple to use - what else could you want?

Is the new Mackie stuff any good? I was warned off by 2 different shops. I've used their mixing desks and didn't think much of them.

Yep, I would always suggest go for the Mackies. I have used my 450's pretty much twice a week for the last 5 years or so now without a problem.

I like the DB live series. So maybe 1 sub 15 with 2 402's for tops comes in around the £1100 mark but I bet a dealer would give a discount if buying all 3 together.

V1 SRM 450's -either you got a good set or you didn't. The bad ones have a tendency to overheat and cut out due to the thermal protection; hence avoid s/h ones on Ebay that have only been owned for a short period of time...

...also people report that they are harsh on the ears and tinny - just use a basic graphic EQ to sort that one out, I've never had any complaints / experiences like that with mine.

Mine have never overheated once in 2 1/2 years of regular use, even in baking hot marquees in the middle of summer; but I have never thrashed them, and use the Low Cut button along with a (dB Sub 15) sub.

If buying the SR1522z, please note that they are 60kg each - so make sure you have a roadie with you at all times!

Well, update, Placed the order and (even though they say 3 pairs available on ebay) they are out of stock.

They rang me and told me that they could upgrade me to the SR1530z for an extra £200 and i told them where to go. Im now getting the SR1530z for the same price as i was going to pay for the SR1522z.

Not a huge amount different, ther is a slight drop in SPl, but the fact that they are 3 way and 10kg lighter makes up for it. They arrive on monday :)

Although you've already bought some now, I use the Srm450s and can't fault them at all. Mine have never overheated either even without the lowcut button being used.
