I always have a few xlr converter adaptors too - which swap a male to female and vice verse - also useful for extending cables in an emergency.
saved my bacon a few times.

thanks i didnt think of that lol.
do stereo jack leads make it balanced or is it best to just use the mono ones that go into your amp?

Very useful indeed. Those craplins copies are pretty cheap too (under half what we paid recently trade ex vat for eight Neutrik sex changers) to squeeze another four sends out of a little 12+4 snake.

Not entirely sure what you're asking, but a stereo jack does not automatically equate to a balanced line. I'm sure you know this, but a single stereo jack is used for a balanced mono signal - the ring, 'cold', send is used for the inverting input. So a pair of these, left and right, would make up your balanced stereo send.
It of course depends on whether or not your mixer or desk accepts balanced 1/4' inputs wired tip hot and ring cold, but there's no doubt that it is better practice to use a balanced send regardless of the interconnect.
