Having spent some time this morning calling around local DJs to find out who isn't

a) snowed in

and

b) not working tomorrow

to cover my kids party in case I still can't get off my drive, and having drawn a blank had just resigned myself to calling the customer to explain the situation.


As I was looking up their number on the file, the phone rang. It was tomorrow's customer asking if they could postpone for 2 weeks as they're snowed in too :D Naturally I sympathised profusely with them and offered to transfer the date at no extra charge :D :D :D

One booking is an old friend and ex DJ who still has some gear, so if I can't make it, at least he'll have something. I have spoken to a DJ who is nearer to the venue but he has the same problem.

The other booking is in a Hotel in Gatwick who seemed more interested in booking rooms for tonight than discussing Saturday's party.

"I won't have time to ring you back" was the phrase that got me!

Talking of which, I need to ring a certain DJ from here, who is booked to do it currently.

Luckily for me it is Race Night Season. Last nights, Friday and Saturday have all been postponed and rearranged for a later date and my residency tonight is blocked off with snow.

I can get off my estate (just) however with the weather changing so quickly I am very wary about travelling back from a gig late at night. Next weekend sees 2 weddings. They are both in the same venue so I am considering dropping some kit off when I can get, just incase this weather lasts.

Apparantly County Durham has now ran out of grit for the roads.

I had a 21st Birthday booked for saturday. I spoke to the guy this morning and we both decided that it was best to re-schedule. He rang me back around an hour ago and said the only date he could get the same venue for was 10th April so we are doing it then. Yes, he could've got a different venue but it is in a small village and everyone invited lives in the village...which at the moment is inaccessible.

I'm supposed to be doing Karaoke at a local pub tomorrow and sunday but at the moment I can't even get the van moved so they may not happen either.

StarZ - My pub gigs don't pay booking fees or deposits. The saturday gig was paid upfront. IF he wanted to cancel then yes, booking fee returned.

Luckily my local halfords sell snow chains so havent let anyone down yet. (touch wood) We live on a pain in the <forum censor activated - please edit your post><forum censor activated - please edit your post><forum censor activated - please edit your post> hill though exit is at the top and it hasd caused problems but I keep a good shovel some grit , cat litter and some salt water just incase.
I finding taking my lighter rig out in the snow is much better for me so all abs type lightign and speakers to keep the weight low in the car.

The pub cancelled last night's quiz.

I'm off to tonights quiz in a minute, but suspect I won't be doing it due to a lack of punters. The first week of the year is always quiet anyway, but add in the snow I there's little chance. I probably won't even set the gear up. I'll just wait & see if anyone turns up first.

Fortunately I'm not working tomorrow or Saturday, but a friend of mine has had his Saturday gig cancelled.

One gig cancelled for Saturday night (well, postponed for a month or so, actually), but the others are all going ahead.

Steve is out at the moment doing a set up for a job that's on tomorrow, although he did get slightly stuck this afternoon coming back from the supermarket, so hoping all's OK (he's loaded up with things like the shovel, cardboard (to put under the wheels) and grit (not to mention portable chargers and a duvet.... just in case).

We've also managed to put contingency plans in place in case anyone can't get to where they're supposed to be over the weekend. (Thank you very very much to those very helpful DJs who are not working and who just happen to be living practically on top of the gigs we've got booked and who are currently on stand by in case any of our mob get stuck!)
