Despite all the run-ins I do find this a fascinating place to be.
Bit of guesswork here....looking at the join dates the site was started by Darren and possibly Corrabar Steve...in May 2005....Its coming up to its 5th birthday this year......
So....
How have things developed over the years? Were there any prolific posters that have either jacked the forum or DJ'ing?Does it make money for the organisers(they put a lot of effort into it)?Apart from Word Association which was the most replied to thread? How long are the threads kept for?Anybody famous posted on here?Who exactly are the mods and when and why did they become one(were they invited)??Was the forum already up and running and Darren or Steve (or both) inherited it
Not nosey....just love History(even if its recent)!!
If you ever wonder about an aspect of our community:) :) :) ....post your question here...

The site was started by Richie originally before 2005 - it might have been 2004 or even 2003.
On the first day it started, Richie was looking for moderators, so I applied alongside others.
To cut a long story short, a few years ago, the people moderating the forum were all falling out and it was getting ridiculous, so I chatted to Richie and basically told him that I wanted to buy the forum and start again with my own team of admin and moderators. I didn't want to take all the responsibility, so rang Angela (Corabar Entertainment) and asked if she'd be my partner, to which she agreed.
Richie had decided to leave us and hand the forum and listing site over to Angela and I, but we persuaded him to stay and after a few meetings and negotiations, decided to all becomes partners and form the Mobile Disco Directory Partnership.
We chose out admin and moderators carefully, one of them being Shaun (Elite DJ), who helped me run the place when Angela was otherwise engaged and who became the fourth partner last year.
We do run it as a business, but it just about pays for itself as the hosting is expensive, which is why we appreciate any help from others.
The listings site was revamped last year and hopefully more and more advertisers will come on board over the coming months and years.
Longest thread? No idea!!!!
There have been a lot of prolific posters over the years who have gone their own way for reasons only known to them. And no, it's not because I have fallen out with them!
The current moderating staff were chosen by myself, Angela and Shaun and we also ask the other mods opinion when taking on anyone new.
We tend to go for a mix of age, experience and location, so that we get a fair mix of opinions.
All the moderators are listed on the site if you look carefully! The longest standing moderator is Corabar Steve, who I'm sure you all know!!

I think I've had a couple of photos as my avatar, one old & one current.
If you're referring to the old one, it certainly WAS hideous, as I looked awful 25 years ago.
Fortunately I'm like a fine malt, and I've improved with age.

I bumped into one of the Haverhill jocks a few months ago doing one of my Crazy nights and thought it was Badger---but no:confused:
Apparently down there he is respected as one of the leading lights in the club music scene and I think does cover mobile work at the venue I played (Haverhill Rugby Club)
Definitely take your own kit there---alll the equipment is rather ancient.

Particularly at the beginning of the thread it gives a good insight to the dynamics of the site!!
