View Full Version : Anyone know anyone famous?

I've been keeping this fairly quiet on here so far, but back on Nov 17th myself and my wifes fourth baby was born, and we had a few complications before and after the birth.

Well, we're now not keeping it quiet - and we're on the front Page of the local Bristol paper today, and online too: This Is Bristol (http://www.thisisbristol.co.uk/news/Bristol-s-miracle-baby-survived-lift-threatening-scares/article-1690373-detail/article.html).

The main reason we're looking for publicity is because we want to try and raise some cash for Bristol Childrens Hospital by holding a Fundraiser in March or April this year. Predictably, we're going to have a disco, but I've also got a live band lined up and we're going to couple that with a raffle and auction, and a photographer, but....

...we need someone to bring in the crowds! The last time I did something like this in aid of the Victims of Crime appeal we had Stavros Flatley, but we can't use him again, so I'm after ideas!! Does anyone know anyone relatively famous (or anyone we could get in touch with who helps finding famous people) who might possibly be prepared to help in exchange for publicity across Bristol?

We're also after donations for prizes for the auction and raffle, and also could possibly fit in a live comedian or two, or something similar?

No, I noticed that too - I've commented on the facebook group about it. For the record Gemma has never threatened any lifts :)

Well, when i saw the headline i thought that the report was going to say that when you were at the hospital you were also stuck in a lift.

Presumably Justin Lee Collins.

He was born in Bristol & still lives there.

Justin Lee Collins :D

I'm obviously not local enough to get that reference ;) Searching google images gives an interesting result (http://images.google.co.uk/images?rlz=1C1CHNG_enGB349GB349&sourceid=chrome&q=justin+lee+collins&um=1&ie=UTF-8&ei=nIlIS5jjC4aM0gT6ifDiAQ&sa=X&oi=image_result_group&ct=title&resnum=4&ved=0CCUQsAQwAw).

Mr Mayhem - don't suppose you've got his home number? :D

I met Philip Schofield a few years ago, he opened our hospital fete. We've also had John Nettles and Geraldine Peers off Central News :) I'll contact the organisers of the fete as we have a celebrity each year to open our fete.

Neil.

Edit: Added to post.

I'd contact Nick Park/Aardman Animations as they already have history and a relationship with Bristol Children's Hospital

I cannot begin to imagine how scary things have been for your and your family. What a brave little fighter baby Gemma is, her story truly touched me. Best of luck with your fundraiser, Jules. :) :) :)

Contact your local newspaper for any contact details they have for local celebs. Our local paper has details of dozens who you can book through the paper as opposed to an agent.

I meet a lot of celebs (mainly sporting ones) when doing race nights and most are hired through our paper - did not realise this till a couple of years ago :D

it to him but looking at his own site its pretty crap so did not in the end

Tes.co and dis.co were taken unfortunately. :(

I've worked with Chico - I played his backing music for him at a charity do at my old job (we did several fund raisers a year and I did the DJ'ing for them). He was really good, got the crowd going, entertaining, professional, and thanked me afterwards.
