I have been meaning to ask you guys this for a while.

What song are you planning/would like/did you have at your wedding day?

and

What song would you like played at your funeral? - (not putting a downer on things, just generally interested)

Islands in the stream- wedding day.
Freebird- funeral. Not only do I like the song, I also like the idea of making my friends stand there for 7 minutes whilst it finishes.

Don't worry, Charlie...I don't have a clue either!

For the wedding song, if you mean the first dance, I guess it's likely to be the first song me & my future wife danced to when we met (not that we have yet!).

As for a funeral song, certainly not a pop song, as I just don't feel that's appropriate. As people arrive, probably something traditional or classical.

Although it's been done time and time again...I love "My Way", however I think "Trouble - Coldplay" would be an alright choice too.

They are brilliant songs...I love and used to listen to both. The trouble is I forget about songs, especially as I discover new ones.... Doesn't make a great DJ does it. :o

I suppose you only get half a say in your first dance choice - and that's if you're lucky! :p

I'm not sure, I certainly wouldn't have 'Amazed', I absolutely can't stand that song. My friend had 'Chasing Cars', and my parents had 'Souvenir' (OMD).

I'd quite like 'Pink Floyd - Us And Them'... I just need to find a female Pink Floyd fan to marry :D

As for my funeral, I would like it to be upbeat, and I'd like people to remember me for my sense of humour - so I probably would choose pop songs! I doubt I could resist 'The Hoosiers - Goodbye Mr A' :lol:

Before me and the other half split last year we had planned to get married and the first dance was to be Labi Siffre's (Something Inside) So Strong or Bill Wither's Lean On Me. Perhaps not great first dance songs but they both meant something to us as I used to sing these songs in my karaoke shows and she thought I was good. Our duo song was Meatloaf's Paradise (so it's probably no suprise our life together went just like that song! Without of the end of time bit - but the end did come for us!).

As for a funeral song I've always fancied "Wish Me Luck As You Wave Me Goodbye". Other choices are the Python's "Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life" or the Dubliner's "Bugger Off!". All good tracks.

Incidently, I have planned out part of my funeral already. (Yes, really! And yes I am still only 34!) I've put aside a fund of money which is to be used to buy drink for my pre-funeral send off. The reason being is I want my coffin to be brought to the house before the church and a round of drinks for everyone poured out on my coffin lid (in to glasses, obviously! I'm not stupid!). The reason is that, this way, everyone can have a last round of drinks on me!

Funeral - Living In A Box, Going Underground, Stairway To Heaven, Angels etc...and to finish...Always Look On The Bright Side of Life :D

I just want to take the mick at my funeral, although I don't really like thinking about it as i'm scared of dying - probably sounds daft!

Not my choice for my wedding......It's down to the missus...lol

BUT

If I had my way for my funeral

Tubthumping - I get knocked down.....Just looking down on my mourners and watching them bounce around would make me happy. Following near death I want to see my friends hav fun and not dwell on misfortunes:)

For our wedding first dance we had "Three Times a Lady" when Lionel Richie was still a Commodore. Sadly by the time we divorced, she had become five times a lady :D

My funeral is already planned out:

I'll be carried into the Crematorium to a Brass Band Version of Pachelbels' "Canon in D", (all the fanfares I never got in life !;) )
As the curtains close to committ my coffin.... "Light my Fire" by the Doors

We had Chet Baker's version of "Time After Time" for our first dance (no, not like the Cyndi Lauper one!). Nobody knew it, but the lyrics meant everything to us.

Absolutely, I too want people to smile/laugh at my funeral, and shake their heads knowingly. Have been thinking about having Europe's "The Final Countdown" as the coffin starts to roll. Or the intro from the Thunderbirds theme.

Or "Burn Baby Burn" by Ash (double pun!)/"Ring of Fire" by Johnny Cash/Disco Inferno by The Trampps/Burning Love by Elvis - ANYTHING that's irreverant really.*

Another option of course is "So Long, Farewell" from The Sound of Music! LOL


*Although, Living in a Box is a bit too Edgar Alan Poe really, and Sympathy For The Devil might be pushing it too far!

For my first dance i would like Paul Weller- you do something to me and for the family and friends dance i would like Journey- Dont stop believing. Although there are a few other songs that mean a lot to me too so who knows.
I cant remember what i said for my funeral choice songs in other thread....i think it was let it be- beatles..or now your gone-basshunter haha
