Amp advice please.

Anyone have knowledge or experience of the Studiomaster AX series? One local to me on ebay has caught my eye ( and hopefully pocket). :D I'm encouraged on one hand by the fact that a well regarded Disco/PA shop in the same area sells them new.

Thoughts welcomed, thanks.

I was going to to for the Studiomaster and after much studying would have done but managed to get a MC2-T2000 almost new at a good price and boy what a good amp it is I am well pleased with it.

Well worth a look I got it from this guy maybe he has some left ?

Cutting to the quick, the heavy old Studiomaster gear made in the UK is generally considered pretty good, however their stuff from the last decade that originates from the Far East is nothing special.

MC2 is in a completely different league, proper pro audio as opposed to MI gear.

Pretty much echo the comments that have been made. I used to have a studiomaster 1200d (2x600 watt) power amp and that was fantastic. Easily on par with the old Citronic PPX series (Bombproof). Then Studiomaster disappeared from retail outlets for a few years, then returned as a cheap & chearful chinese set up. Certainly no comparison in build quality or credability as the old stuff.

Well thanks a lot lads. :bang: I'm getting proper cheesed off with this amplifier lark. :( :( I've sourced some s/h PV2600's at an agreeable price, but been advised against them by someone who ought to have more idea than me. Was advised that the W Audio I'd lined up was good value. Great. :D None available anywhere. Not great. :( :( :( A well regarded store is selling Studiomaster,and as I said, there's a S/H one on ebay which might be in my price range. Now you lot say no, so back to the drawing board. :( :( :(

If I didn't want one with a built in x-over, I'd simply order a T-amp, job done.

Would you believe it? :confused: :D :D There's one on ebay in Rotherham, £200 at the moment, reserve not met. Will keep a watchful eye on it. ;)

Hmm, Yamaha didn't reach reserve, so we don't know what that is. It's higher than I was looking to pay as a bargain, so I've tracked down the last two Warriors in the country, as far as I can tell. :eek: This model is apparently discontinued, according to some, so I'm waiting two days to see how the Studiomaster goes, and then I may have to bite the bullet, and flex my spending muscles. :cry: :cry: :cry:

Failing that, I'll give it all up as a bad job, and buy a T-Amp.

Update: Unless I've had a sizeable lottery win when I check my numbers, I'm going to bid on the Studiomaster, and see if I can get it for little over the £100 which it's currently at. Ends at 8 tonight, so we'll see what transpires.
