My fiance and I are thinking of taking my daughter and her friend to Portugal this year at some point for a few weeks. Never been to Portugal but if we do go there I'll be taking my surfboard too, sun, sea, sand and surf :D

Where are you going this year, if anywhere at all? Know of any bargains? Where have you been before that you'd recommend. :beer1: :)

I've been to Portugal, but unfortunately it was the summer where it was BLAZING hot like 40 degrees and was far too hot to enjoy being outside!

This year I'm going to Menorca for like the 8th time, as we love it as a family. We're taking my best friend, Laurence, as well :)

I haven't had a holiday for ten years, and won't be having one this year as saving for my retirement is a much higher priority.

Since going full time, holidays have become less necessary, as I now work about a quarter of the hours I did & have virtually no stress.

I do have a couple of recommendations though...New York & Kenya.

Right well I've got a couple planned for this year so far :D

In February I'm taking Emma up to Edinburgh for a few days as I got her tickets to see Ronan Keating there for her Christmas present

March: I've got a week in Marakech

April: Off to Benidorm......Oh I forgot that's not a holiday, it's Networking :D :D

Nothing planned for the rest of the year suppose I'll have to do some of that work stuff ;)

I'm off to a surprise destination on sunday (Italy I think) and we've got the annual fortnight in Ibiza booked for the start of september.

I'm planning a fortnight hillwalking / touring the north of Scotland too and maybe a week at NTS Thistle Camps but I don't think that counts as a holiday - its hard graft! :)

I'm in training for THIS (http://www.tartanarmychildrenscharity.org.uk/kiltwalk/ben-nevis.htm) in April too. That's definitely not a holiday :)

Cruise, cruise, cruise = The best holiday you will ever have with your family, without a doubt....guaranteed. Two years ago when Dad told us we were going on one, I turned my nose up at the thought....sea sick, small space, want to get off the ship....how wrong was I?

Awsome holiday and one I will never forget. As soon as we got back, we perswaded mum to take us on one, the sam holiday.. and we did, with another family, who also loved it. The wide array of food...with some restaurants open 24 hours, cinemas, bars, theatres, pools, hot tubs, pianno bars, cafes, shops....waking up somewhere different every morning, and standing on the top deck with a glass of orange juice and a piece of toast as you pull into the heart of Santoina was just priceless.

You wouldn't regret it....and considering what you get, it's great value for money. We did the informal cruises....not a fan of being in a suit every night. We dressed up once when the cheif James Martin cooked for us in his bistro on board.

Sorry about the spelling mistakes...I'm on the bus!

I don't mean to willy wave, but I'm saving to go to Florida (again) at the end of October with a friend or possibly two.

We're just trying to work out the cheapest way of doing it, so we can have Accommodation, Flights, Hire Car and most importantly, I need to hire an aeroplane for two weeks lol.

We've budgeted about £1200 each.

Any ideas? :D :D :D

Don't bother. When you do retire, the state will decide you have too much money and make you ineligable for Pension Credit. I love how the government are bridging the gap between rich and poor. It means I can effectively stop trying to be rich and enjoy myself ... booze and fags here i come.

Butlins is OK - take it or leave it for me but the kids love it.....every minute.
My take is if the kids like it - go with the flow.

We have 12 or 18 (can't remember which) life time passes to Butlins to do with as we like. If I sell the caravan I can still keep the passes.....

The holiday fund is suffering somewhat since our mammoth Scandinavia roadtrip last summer, so this year will probably be either a tour of Northumberland or Eire, depending on how the next few months go :)

Both are places I've toured on business, and are high on the list of UK places I want to revisit at my own pace.

We're overdue visits to friends/family in Devon, Wales, Donegal, Somerset, France, USA (and possibly NZ as well).... might squeeze a couple/few of those in this year, but I doubt very much we'll make the furthest two. Haven't got any firm plans as yet.

No holidays planned for this year, next year.....and the year after :(. Lots of work needing done on the home and garden, so all that is taking precedence. And with the addition to our family last year, that also means less ££ to spend on toys for myself. (sigh..lol).

Superb ship!

For those of you who are bored and fancy having a look at a few of these...

YouTube- P&O Ventura Cruise Ship
This ship was released in 2008.

This is brand spanking new.

Both very very good videos, and although they may seem a tad boring at first they do pick up.

Our family holiday is booked and I'm really looking forward to it.

Grandad passed away recently but in his will he requested the following:

"For Deanna (his wife), the boys and Sarah (Mum) to go away in the Summer on a cruise of their choice"

He put some money aside for it too...I have only just found out this week, but I'm really excited!

It's for 12 days round Gran Caneria etc. Should be a laugh!
