Scanning that Disco Directory in a recent thread ...looking for inspiration.


Jumpin James(Yorkshire) offers a "Guitar Star Party" as an option.


I can only assume he's using a Wii thingy and a projector....are there not any legal issues with that for large audiences??

Is there a chance we have overlooked a fantastic business opportunity by not offering the service!!???;) ;) ;) :eek: :eek: :eek:

I've thought about it too, but heard you have to have licenses - haven't researched it properly though.

I could imagine the Guitar thing being quite visual....and it may not be a million miles away from the Karaoke principle....I.E...watching your mates have a go.

Assume there are ways to get the sound from the Wii to a rig and the picture on a screen large enough for a venue??

There is a component cable, so it shouldn't be a problem.

Hmmm - depends on your clientelle.

I have an image of some drunken chav smashing the guitar at the end of the song, Pete Townsend-stylee. Not quite as easy to replace as a cheapie Karaoke mic....

Theres a number of pubs round here sprouting out with Wii parties. Everything from racing championships, to (and i kid you not)...DJ Hero :eek: Its actually a good laugh, especially when you have the actual venue dj compering and taking the mick (out of the punters and himself) :)

Wii pub nights are mentioned in one of the ads on telly with Ant & Dec, so I expect a lot are springing up all over the place atm

Another Nail in the Coffin.....or a business opportunity??Personally I don't fancy it.

There is a rather nice pub near me called the Oliver Twist.I was resident DJ there for a couple of years between 2006/2008.We had a real good rumble(on Saturday nights) with about 60/80 regulars mainly from the older end of the age scale.

Wasn't working Saturday so popped in to see how it had deveopled.The new DJ was linking up a Wii to a projector.There were 3 adolescents in thats all....possibly underage.

Heartbreaking....you bet!!

thought i would bring this to life rather then start a new thread, my wife went to a local social club on Friday and the dj was doing a wii just dance night, running it along the lines of karaoke, she said it was a fantastic night (she would say that though because she got the highest score of the night), so anyone else doing these nights yet

Thought of it, but it's the licence that confuses me.
I contacted Nintendo for information about getting permission for doing it on a larger scale and guess what.....
They could not be bothered to reply :(

I have seen on the Visual DJ site that they hire out Wii's. Maybe Max could shed some light on the legal stuff ?

We've thought about this too for our Sunday afternoons but just 'assumed' it wouldn't be legal?

From a logical point of view, I doubt that Microsoft or Nintendo would allow the license shipped with the software to be used for commercial purposes (without paying extra, of course).

This is why we contacted Nintendo so that we could do something with the license or royalty payments.
