hi my soundlab venus light is ant working i baught it a while a go but not had chance to use i have a gig in a few weeks so i thaught i would use it then but the problem is its not working at all i have put a new fuse in it and nothing the bulb is in proppalyand still nothing the motor isant going a round .
please can some help me

This is getting rather confusing: you say that you haven't had a chance to use it, but you have at least 2 other threads where you have mentioned problems with this light (it was smoking). Well, actually, you said you bought 2 and that 1 of them was smoking.

Is the one that you mention in this thread the one that was working originally, or the one that was smoking?

Right I bought 2 Venus lights but the one what was smoking I have used and seems ok but but when I bought the lights originally the one what I said was smoking already had a bulb in it because they give me a demo in the shop. now when I was putting in the bulb in the other light I touched the bulb with my hand and it wouldn’t work because of the moist so I have recently got a bulb for it and my dad has put it in for me so I have plugged it in and nothing happened so my dad tested the fuse and the fuse had gone so went to town today to get a fuse and just got in put the new fuse in the light and its still not working

Cobblers. I just sold two Vastos which outlasted Abstract Twisters by many many years, with less bulb replacement.

hi just to let you all know that my dad took it a part and the motor has sized up and thats why it wasent working so i have made my mind up to bin it but i have found a nother one of ebay thanks for your help

OK, I should have pointed out that not everything from the Soundlab stable is of the utmost quality, Mr Picky. :p :p I'm simply pointing out that I've seen badge gear fail long before budget in more than one case. ( And yes, I've seen some budget gear that I'd not dare to plug in!!!! )

Have a look at Maplins catalogue. You may pick up a motor or gearbox of the correct voltage/speed for a few pounds. If Dad's at all technically minded, it may resurrect a fixture for a fiver and a couple of nights with a soldering iron on the kitchen table.

Rather than picking another one up from Ebay why don't you buy one from somewhere that will offeryou a warranty?

Not everywhere. For something like a Vasto surely the difference in price between eBay and a proper shop is nothing. You can pick them up for £25.00 through most retailers.

So, he had a Vasto and the motor seized up and yet he is still buying another one!

I have a Vasto which is still going strong and I've only had to replace the bulb once.

I suppose alot depends on how you look after it.

I stand by my original comment that Soundlab is a bad idea to put on a working rig.

Spend a few quid more and get a couple of NJD chaos units as they have been bomb proof for me. One has been going for 9 years and even after I threw across my garage (by mistake) a couple of minor repairs and it worked again.
