I'm trying to get the appropriate removal key and am loathed to pay £17 off for a full set of removal keys unless absolutely necessary:)

Somebody has recommended this in vehicle cd thing and I thought I'd move into the 21st century

Metal coat hanger should do the trick ;)

The dial on the right is very very similar to the one in my van, but I don't think it has a make. It's a Nissan Primastar, but the parts are from Renault.

That would make sense as the guy I bought the van from took out the original renault radio.

One one side or both?

Both sides together. Ensure you have a bit hanger in all 4 holes. Pull the coathanger outwards then pull out. This shoudl bring the stereo out.

When ever I've been stuck getting one out, I've taken the car along to the local Halfords, had a quick chat with one of the guys in the car audio/'modding' section & they've come out & removed it for me.

Bend a coat hanger into a U shape and stick in both holes.
Do same on the other side- sometimes you need to push it in until there is a "click".
Says the person from Liverpool.

I just use 2 small screwdriver (like the ones jewellers use) and do one side, then pull that side out slightly, then do the other side, then the whole thing comes out quite easily.

I've fitted loads of CD players into my vehicles over the years so am pretty good at it now lol

It looks very much like a Blaupunkt (spelling bad im sure) I had one in my old peugeot 106 They just change the facia depending on the car its going into. Mostly european cars being a german brand so Vauxhal , peugeot, renault, citroen. Halford do the removal tools for £3.99 or as already said a couple of bits of wire either side.

Hang on am I reading this wrong......

Vauxhall = GM (General Motors) originally American
Peugeot, Renault, Citroen = French

So they're not 'mostly german':confused::confused::confused::confused:

Try again Plaupunkt are german, not the others they are european as I said. Vauxhall where mainly produced on the continent hence why included.

I think Plaupunkt begins with a "B"

It's a Philips TunerList radio - commonly found in every Renault made between about 1999 and 2004.

Edit - I notice you've got it out now anyway... (duh, read thread, then post).

Now that I notice there are so many experts in this thread re: car radios I though I'd ask a question about the new one I have fitted in!

Firstly,it came from a relative which is never perfect as I may not have all the bits but basically I have put and secured the metal outer cradle in place which is fine. However when I push the radio in to it's fullest there is nothing to "Lock it in place" Is there something missing perhaps-nothings obvious to me!
