I have had my S&H one for years. The bulbs are hardly working though on the starcloth. I never turn it on though as I feel like a magician.

I have also started using in with a Truss Plasma Booth. It looks cool but it is a right royal pain in the neck to put it all together. You need to be on a stage as well otherwise you don't see the plasmas.

No, James has defended his costs admirably before, and I know that yes, I could knock one up with the Mig tomorrow, if I had a pattern to follow. I couldn't make one for a mate though at a viable price. It's expensive, but not overpriced. There's a difference. ;)

I've made the very robust ( heavy) Chobham Mk7, and it's totally punter proof. It's not however the ultimate in chic. :( :( :(

I'm now using something which definitely is overpriced. An Ultimax cloth front. Really really cheap cloth, totally stupid spring clip mounts, and two bits of 1" box section. It's a rip off, but I needed it quite urgently, and believe me, it's high on the list for some heavy duty modifications.

Ha you hit he nail on the head mate, I've never really been a fan of starcloths. But I was thinking of putting my skills to use and creating a graphic equaliser style cloth ;)

I also plan to customise my deckstand....It isn't really adequate for my kit, and currently can't accomodate my USB mixing desk and DMX controller.....lol

The day I either

a) downsize my lighting

or

b) increase the size of my van

I'll be getting a booth for wedding gigs. They're much classier looking than the deckstand. But for the moment it's your bog standard Ultimax deck stand with the pre-wired bar. When I'm shopping it'll be the deckstand pro if indeed it's compatible with my ultimax overhead stuff.

Sorry, no option for that so no vote from me.

For me, it's a DIY stand made from an old student/computer desk with several shelves and compartments already on there and modified to include plain frontage and fully wired so everything connects to it and setup is quick and easy.

Plus, it fits neatly in the Alhambra and it's on wheels so can also act a trolley when moving flightcases over longer distances.

Multipurpose or what?!? ;)

Pretty similar situation to us Vectis (hence my other thread about the packed down size of the booths)

We have DJs for whom space is at a premium and I don't think that the booth is going to be a viable option for them :( .... not at the present time anyway.

4ft Giraffe stand for me, Ive had it years and I velcro a white cloth to the front if it.

It dosent look the best, but dosent stop me charging top dollar for gigs so I've got no real reason to change it!

Venues table if available- they are at 95% of events but I always ask when speaking to them.
If not, then I have a small "stand" which I use.

Im more than happy with my big flight case (holds lighting) amprack and decks all with a black out sheet over. I like it as i feel its more approachable for guests as everything stops at waste level.

All on wheels too if it needs to be moved and no extra equipment required.

To be honest, I DO like the massive black starcloths which some people use behind them as a backdrop, and I DO like the large black starcloths built into the ceilings of some marquees.

It's the small ones on the front of decks & booths that I don't like.
