View Full Version : MP3 Music
Dear all
I have been purchasing my new MP3's from tesco for an age now and its all worked very well for me.
However, they appear to have changed the whole set up and its just a pain in the backside now. I can't just browse whats going on in R&B charts and dance charts and when you click on a new track it used to give the various remix options, but now it tries to sell you the album instead.
So where do you chaps go for your MP3's. I like to browse and sample bits etc. I can't be arsed listening to the radio 1 all day anymore to work out what's hot or not as they just spout poo all day, I prefer to just try small snippits and make a call on it.
Radio 2 doesn't give me many clues these days.
So I am looking for a new MP3 purchase site.

7Digital (http://www.7digital.com/)
Play.com (http://www.play.com/Music/MP3-Download/6-/DigitalHome.html)
Amazon (http://www.amazon.co.uk/MP3-Music-Download/b/ref=sa_menu_dm1?ie=UTF8&node=77197031&pf_rd_p=218610391&pf_rd_s=left-nav-1&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_i=468294&pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_r=16PTQWARTHHFDNK7QKEP)

Can you download in 320 kbps DRM free format now then?
Thanks Darren, will give them a whirl.
Itunes is not getting near my computer as it just screws everything up. I need MP3's not those nasty little locked down M4a nonesense Apple produces.
But, thanks anyway Rob as my response sounded downright ungrateful and rude, which I am not, so apologies if it comes across that way.
Just had a play and 7digital looks like my bag - just what I am looking for. Only problem is I might get carried away and start trying to be a dance DJ again.

No, but I can't see anywhere in the OP where it states that requirement.

I was stating where you can go wrong by using Itunes.
You'd have to convert the files and a lot of them aren't a very high bit rate.

Panto time again: " Oh yes you can" . ;) ;) As Darren says, why convert the :Censored: things, when you can buy them readymade?
7Digital (http://www.7digital.com/)
Play.com (http://www.play.com/Music/MP3-Download/6-/DigitalHome.html)
Amazon (http://www.amazon.co.uk/MP3-Music-Download/b/ref=sa_menu_dm1?ie=UTF8&node=77197031&pf_rd_p=218610391&pf_rd_s=left-nav-1&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_i=468294&pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_r=16PTQWARTHHFDNK7QKEP)
What he said, but I'd say
7digital
Amazon
Play
in that order.

djdownload.com
djmr.com
beatsdigital.com
djtunes.com
trackitdown.net
primeloops.com
etc etc etc but in all seriousness I don't think you'll go far wrong with 7digital

7Digital for me, too. Been using it from the start (I might have mentioned my liking of this site before but I think I got away with it! ;) ) and the Locker function is ace. It's a big help if things go bad with a track.

itunes
and yes you can convert them into 320kps mp3 files using the inbuilt file converter in itunes. I have used amazon (various bit rate which my dns3500 dont like) napster (poor customer service) and a few other sites but found itunes always had what I wanted if i could find it anywhere
Beatport and djdownload.com are cracking sites for dance choons.
I tunes can be a pain in the bum to get around sometimes but has other non disco content on there like shows to download so got abit of peep show, american dad etc... downloaded.

Why do you say this ? What problems you had with itunes ?
I have used it ever since it became available to windows users and I have found it to be the most realiable and easy way to get hold of new tunes. Never had a problem with either the software or their service.

don't the t&c of itunes prohibit commercial useage of the tunes?

I can't get on with it at all. I tried using it when I got my wife an IPod one Christmas and gave up. Her Ipod has about 100 tracks on it which I sweated blood for. It makes sod all sense.
I have just gone digital with the DJ'ing. I am using Media Monkey and Denon Music Manger and they are easy as peeing in a pot.
In fact the Ipod is going to Ipod heaven now that I am on a roll and going to be replaced by a generic MP3 player so that she can have all the music she wants from my ripping exploits.
That has always been the problem with Apple - their own special way that not everyone can get on with.
