I've just bought a little Canon IXUS 100 IS compact digital camera and wondered what size, speed and type of memory card to get for it. I have no clue what to buy. All I know is that it will take SD, SDHC, MMCplus and HC MMCplus card formats. Any advice would be appreciated :beer1:

Thanks in advance

The IXUS 100 IS is compatible with SD and SDHC cards. A point worth mentioning is that Canon has not included a memory card with they camera and they have not built in any memory either. Therefore you will need to already have a compatible card or you will need to buy one before using the camera.

SD HD card (for HD pictures as long as your camera can offer that) are in Argos for about £20.00

I've already read that review mate, do you have any of your own opinions regarding the OP.

Canon Ixus--brill just bought the 95IS to replace my old one that got totalled at a booking:eek:

I imagine it takes the SDHC--see the handbook.

I use mine for promo vid clips and in low light conditions its better than my Sony Video Camera.

I wasnt aware there was any particular choice of speed:confused:

Get a big card then you wont have to worry about constantly downloading to clear the card--or if you want to take vids a big card is essential.

I currently have 2gb cards but my next card will be like this---

http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_0_9?url=search-alias%3Delectronics&field-keywords=sd+card+8gb&sprefix=sd+card+8

Its getting cheaper;)

I have a 4gb standard card which cost me £9.99 and holds 1200 odd pictures and my other half got the camera that has the dancing statue of liberty in with a 4gb SD HD card which holds about 950 shots, about £24.99 I think the card was.

Both the numbers above are based on the highest settings of the cameras 3968 x 2976 and 3648 x 2736 (HD) so alot depends on what you'll be using it for, but with circa 1000 shots on each would you need anymore?
