around when I'm 51....

The last Hi-Jacked quote from a thread about a youngsters party:eek:

I actually disagree.....it is great exercise!!I'm not the type to spend time in the Gym....Pumping Iron and running on a Treadmill to get absolutely nowhere....

I like carting my gear in.....bringing a venue to life.....I do it proudly.;)

And nobody is more surprised than me when I actually get it stoked up and making a noise.....for you could get my technical knowledge in Britney Spears' belly button and still have enough room for a sesame seed....:D :D

I think you missed my point completely.

I don't want to be DJing at that age - I would rather be running the company and have people out earning for me.

I wasn't really talking about the physical side of things....

Never mind.

I agree with the original comment.

I don't want to be humping speakers around when I'm 51, either.

At least one in three people have back problems when they get older, and I'd suggest that figure is higher among DJs who spend a lot of time over many years lugging speakers (as well as other heavy gear) around, as it's putting extra strain and wear & tear on the back.

I think everyone is missing the 80's throwback's point.

He wants to still be DJ'ing at 51 because he really enjoys it!

Either that or I would give his speakers a wide berth.

Fair comment, but I wonder how many DJs can put their hand on their heart & say they always do & always have lifted things correctly?

Because?

Most of the busiest threads this week have had a reference to the age of the DJ.

Not confrontataional Darren....just a cheery observation!!;)

You know 51 is not old I really enjoy the whole thing I don't think my memory is what it was 20/30 years ago, thank god for my laptop.

I would'nt want to be humping my Class D's around as a fit 20 year old never mind 51, but I would still like to be DJ'ing then as it would show that there was life left in the old dog and that I was still enjoying it.

As soon as the enjoyment goes well that's it from me, but if you are running a full time business it would be nice to scale down on gig's or perhaps employ a young up and coming DJ as a roadie. That way you look after your ailing body but still offer your considerable knowledge and experience. :)
