Need a 4 ohm cab really Pete as originally debated :D
Shame really as they are fantastic :bang: :bang: :bang:
Just a brief post to endorse these cabs - someone's going to get a bargain here, at almost half price.
As I've indicated in the past, the JRX series from JBL is IMHO one of the best ranges of budget cabs and well worth the money. Nice sounding box.

I will then:D. These speakers are very very good for the money, Made to a high standard and sound as good as the more expensive units. JBL all the way!
and that a very good price! if i had the cash i'd buy a second pair.
4 of these and 2 subs = heavenly:)

ummm... I think you've got that the wrong way round, Paul :)
4 subs and 2 mid/tops = heavenly (in context)
2 subs and 4 tops = will rip your face off :(

Personally i think 4 tops and 2 subs as the subs are quite powerful anyway plus the tops can produce pretty good bass on their own (when not user with a crossover) so with 4 tops you wouldn't lose the mid like you would if you were running 4 subs.
Mind you I've never tried is so could be completely wrong.

In a distributed system, you are correct - multiple JRX115s can hold their own for BGM/other low level applications. They're a great little budget box!
The subs and mid/tops play to very similar levels - around the 121-122dB point. I'm not confident that JBL's spec sheet on the web for the 118 sub is correct, as it indicates it only plays down to 55hz, whereas the 115 mid/top plays down to 50hz at the 3dB roll-off point.
However for a direct radiating FOH system (straight stacks, excluding any fills), believe me - a ratio of 2:1 of any mid/top box to comparable subs is not going to be very pleasing on the dancefloor.

Looks like a good deal to me, if I didn't have so many speakers already I would have them.
Where's all those people that have been saying they want more power and a better sound they would be just the job for them.
