Hiya Steve,
The reason I am on the forum buddy is having done 3 parties today (sat 13th) I have given myself some chill time 2 parties tomorrow as well.

PAT weekend here on the IoW, and the van's in for service & MOT on Monday so the house and garage are stuffed full of gear for cleaning and testing.
The only job offers you get round this way for Valentine's weekend are £100 hotel specials - no thanks :) Hence this is traditionally my PAT weekend.
... and after 100+ energetic 13-year-olds last night, I need a break :D

Getting my gear PAT tested next friday I hope it passes cos I've got a gig on the same night
and it's a kids disco dancing comp
I wasn't on line, but was at the pub. A lot less jobs this year, but more money on each job. It is currently looking even slower for us later in the year.

I am a little bemused at some djs needing a REST bring it on the more work the better have rest pat test your kit in the week.
If a busisness is to succeed you need to work hard im sure if the djs who stated this were offered a job in there price range you would take it wouldnt you.

January, February and March are traditionally a quiet time of year for most DJs, so I don't think it's a sign of the times.

Thats only a drop in the ocean compared to the membership.;)
Probably going to regret it but have to admit that despite being really busy last year even I have hit a brick wall this February.:bang: :bang: :bang:
Has it ever stopped you posting on a Saturday because that is the most popular night for a good DJ...??
....its almost as if you're going to get told off if you post on a Saturday night.  :D :D :D

The problem is there is not that work available ( apparently ) unless we go down another price cutting thread
Hmmm--- if only hard work was the sole factor
Remember that lovely American saying ( I think )
No one ever got rich by Digging a ditch---or something similar :)
I go with Darren, I think the Summer/Autumn could be another cracker;)

I have never cut my price for any body, don't believe in that way of working and i would imagine im probably edging towards the top end price wise on this forum but i still manage to find regular work without slashing prices.
Hard work, good reputation ,first class equipment, and aim at your market i tend to do middle to high end work most of my clients are repeat bookings or they have seen me at another job i did.
The phrase i work on is any silly :Censored: can work for nothing being a busy fool.

I was booked for Sat but it was cancelled due to lack of ticket sales. After a very good start in Jan with 14 bookings for weddings, things seem to have ground to a halt.

Maybe he's a well established multi-op.
After all, that only equates to one wedding each Friday in January & a couple each Saturday.

Hopefully he'll be along soon to clarify what he meant.

The fact that he said "14 bookings for weddings" rather than "14 bookings taken for weddings" is what lead me to believe they were bookings FULFILLED in January, rather than those TAKEN then for functions later in the year.
Unless he confirms what he actually meant, I guess we'll never know!

Make that 6 votes for the bookings taken option!
I was working on Saturday but was doing the gig free of charge for my sister's 21st. She was poorly and went home early so it was bit strange playing to a birthday party where the birthday girl was missing! She's actually in hospital in the moment (I've just found out )

I have to say on reflection I think im wrong--its just the way you talk--
If I talk about any month its always gigs im performing at DURING the month,
and EARNING--money in the bank etc.
Talking of bookings TAKEN is not really relevant to me--;)
They can get cancelled
It was the post Xmas rush then--nothing new there then:)
We had some of that:D
