Which Amplifier for JBL EON 1500???

Hi,

I'm after some advice please, I have recently invested in a roadshow and I'm buying back up equipment etc. I've just bought an immaculate pair of JBL EON1500 and I'm hoping for some advice on a mid-high range amp to get that's gonna do them proud. So far someone has said get a CV-1800?

Any further thoughts on this?

I believe these cabs are regarded as quite harsh, according to some on here. I've not heard them, so can't comment. Powerwise, the CV1800 seems a good enough match. I'd expect others with more experience of them to be along soon.

Thanks for your reply Peter, when you say harsh, I assume you mean top end? I too have heard that, but need some back up kit and the deal was a good un :)

nice speakers the eon 1500 i used to have the eon 15g2 lot less harsh than the mackies

whats your budget? Lots of suitable amps available, but depending if you have warrior money or Lab Gruppen money, the choice is not obvious..

The $64,000 question. ;) :D If he's using the CV1800 as a benchmark, we're around £250. Thus C-Mark, Thomann, Warrior, KAM, et al, pretty much all the usual suspects really.

well, having read the original post again, it seems these are required for back up kit, so not too expensive

from kit i have experience off at this end, i woud suggest something from the thomann TA range - seem very good value for money as well as being reasonably reliable
Other than that, there is a huge number of very good quality second hand options which may save a few pennies - for a budget of £200 or so, you could pick up a decent QSC usa series, Citronic PPX would be even cheaper and probably last for ever

Personally i would avoid the likes of Warrior DA series and Gemini units, the examples ive seen of these have not faired well when they have been put on our repair bench.
for a budget unit, the Kam range ( KXR ?) look quite good in comparrison, and the better Warrior zenith range fair quite well
