Im doing a charity gig on sat and it will be full of irish people.

I dont do Irish events but would think you might need some traditional stuff like Danny Boy, Star of the County Down, If your Irish, Molly Malone and of course--the Dubliners---if theres older people there?

Tell a lie --many years ago I did an Irish Wedding in Finchley---blinding booking --using several of the above tracks.

HOWEVER l leave the experts to pronounce;)

Maybe you ought to have the music for The Siege of Ennis as a safety precaution:)

Yes it makes a difference--Ireland or England.

Reading the thread again makes you wonder---Irish people at the party--so what does that mean exactly:confused:

I have just taken a private gig for the summer in a Catholic Church Social Club in County Kilburn:D :D :D :D :D :D

It did make me think back to my my youth working in that area as a 60s Mobile Disco--theres Irish people who have come over for the party--people who have lived in England having emigrated, people who have grown up in the Community with the influences---a whole mixture really with probably different tastes.:( Be prepared for a big mixture.

Glad im not doing that gig--- at least in Kilburn they will get what I give em and tell em --cos im in charge of the Dancing --which I have been told is not to be any Irish:bang: :bang: :bang: :bang:

Fantastic track. its not as cheesy and high tempo as some of the others.
Im sure tell me ma has its place but i like this type better.

I've got the Steve Earl version (as I heard that when I was at a stag night in Kilkenny) and the Mundy version. I also have most of the tracks listed on this page, but I just wondered if an NI dj would play the same kinda tracks as those in Dublin....

So long as you steer clear of any tracks with political / historical lyrics.... no difference (and that's good advice for most Irish gigs unless you know your audience very well, because you do get Irish of both religions on both sides of the border)

It must be different in the UK, cos here, in Dublin at least, you wouldn't get away with playing most of the suggestions above.

I suppose if you're talking about an older group, maybe. But if you have a young crowd they pretty much listen to the same stuff that young people listen to in the UK. The charts here pretty much mirror the UK charts with a few local additions.
