Well after moaning about lack of work etc it's certainly beginning to pick up now.
I'm have something booked in for pretty much every weekend now (bar one or two) till thr middle of July.
Last night was awesome. The venue itself was a converted church turned into a bar/club/restaurant/function room. I have worked there before but in a different part of the building - the room I was in last night still had a working organ!
Great night though as I was put out of my comfort zone - 18th birthday party with "RnB" & "Dubstep"  :D
My research payed off, however, some of the best tunes of the night were "Venga Boys - Sex on the beach" "Say my name say my name - Destiny's Child" "It wasn't me - Shaggy" and "Three little birds - Bob Marley"
I finished with "Oasis-Wonderwall" and encouraged them all to make a big circle and plonk the birthday girl in the middle - with the whole "sing it to me" (Charlie turns the music down and a load of drunks say "Cause babbyyyy" ;)
Nicely paid job too with a kiss on the cheek from the attractive mother and a firm handshake followed by a £30 tip from the Dad. :D
Hows it going your end?

"Venga Boys - Sex on the beach"
I prefer the T-Spoon version :sj:

Do you now? ;) :D
Couple more jobs, but keep having to turn things away as every job keeps landing on the same date. I have had five 26th of June's now, which is flipping typical as its my only booking in the whole of June.
Otherwise we are still falling way short of 2009.

A couple more jobs my end too. Spent the day sorting out the new DMX rig, so all sorted for my next gig now. Had an enquiry come in yesterday for a gig next weekend, but unsure as to whether it will happen or not. Also now involved with a fashion show at school, so that's keeping me busy too!

Bookings have been coming in more slowly than usual this year, but luckily I took a lot more than normal last year for this year, so overall it's not looking too bad.
I have an average of 3 functions a month through until August, a couple in September, one in October & nothing in November or December...but there's still plenty of time to take bookings for the late part of the year.

I have found the same. I also have 3 holidays planned for this year, which were chosen on past quiet periods and the diary being empty, guess what, enquiries galore :D

I tried that but they were expecting me to work in the middle of the city centre while 2:00am for less than £100.00 not wanting to sound picky but i wont do it (own gear needed) not installed.

Same as most round here. Crap. Plenty bookings coming in for the last four months of the year, but doesn't help much now. :(

It will pick up.....always does. :) but why am I telling you this...

I don't think this year will pick up. I think 2010 is the recession regardless of what economic output figures say.
In terms of trying an agency, its my agency work that has dumped out on me. I have three agency jobs this year and 21 of my own. If the agency work was same as last year I would have 40 odd bookings in and not be too bad. However, as it stands I am way down on last year.
This year is going to be a tough one. No-one has any money to spend on anything and that is before the tax rises kick in.
Complaining - nope just into reality. We will keep chipping away at it though. No rest for the wicked and he who dares Rodney.

How strange...that's the complete opposite to me!
I've done 5 discos so far this year (this time last year I hadn't yet done my first)...but in the last four months of the year I currently have the grand total of ONE booking!

Because despite the insults some of us hurl at you, you're actually quite a concerned, helpful, thoughtful little soul. ( And you hope that posting such words of encouragement here may cause me to forget to publicly post any jibes about the V1's you have for sale. ;) :D :D :D )
