Do you always use colour wash?

Just interested to know how many of you always use a colour wash on your lighting rig?

All of our rigs use colour wash: either via pars or icolors (both of which are controllable via something similar to a lil mix).

What about you?

For the most part, yes.

Might dim it down, set to blue or kill completely for certain styles of music (techno etc.) to give the lasers more impact

Voted "yes" as I'd say it was 90% of the time.

Use a couple of ledj colourburst and planning to add more. 2 on dance floor and two uplighting ceiling or behind us.. .controlled via DMX. Programmed in strobe features for dancier tracks etc.

I didn't used to, but find it invaluable for slow dancing and the beginning of the evening.

I also use a Megabar behind me which looks great.

I very rarely use colour wash. The only time it's used is when the mood lighting package is booked, which is very rarely.

i have ADJ Mega Bars, but starting to use them less for dancefloor lighting unless it is a younger birthday party.

for older parties, weddings, i tend to use them as uplighting to provide something less in your face as they are very bright viewed full on.

Three KAM800 panels, almost always. Sadly, I thinbk I'm stretching the term " Wash", since I can't control the :Censored:y things, so they sort of do their own thing. :o :o :o My DMX controller appears to be speaking a different language to the panels. :( :(

Similar but more powerful --4 large car headlight sized colour floods for all events involving Disco /Country Disco--not exactly a wash but certainly plenty of colour.

Ideal for First dance, instructed Dancing and sometimes remove colour filter and aim white beam as a floodlight on the cutting of Birthday /Wedding cake etc.

I understand certain DJs in the Midlands dont offer this so im taking my own to the joint gig im doing in Brum :eek:

Anyway I still use 2 spot banks with coloured lamps in them which I sometimes use to wash. As Darren has pointed out on Facebook they are well past their sell by date and I hope to replace them shortly with some LED ones.

I don't use colour-wash, except if LED Uplighting is booked. I usually just stick with:

1 x KAM Starcluster 3D (Aimed at Ceiling - Looks quite nice)
4 x ACME Dynamo Scanners
2 x Vango Arc's

I use two led par can 64's for every gig - It's been the best £130 I have spent.

Are you sure the polarities match Peter ?.....some DMX controllers and effects have the +ve and -ve reversed. There is sometimes a switch to correct the difference, or alternatively an inline polarity changer is available for about a fiver. :)

I use them for wedding and corporate gigs (ok the expensive gigs). The only reason is that it is one way to differentiate between cheaper bookings and more expensive elite bookings.

I have 4 colourbursts prewired. I use that stand for weddings / corporate gigs and a totally different setup for other gigs.

Sounds daft I know but like to have 'things a bit different' when doing a wedding to say a 18th/21st/40th etc.

Its not just the colourbursts but the whole look which I change. The Par Cans are just one of the changes.

I always have two megabars on my truss. Working on sound to light they can be switched on at the beginning of the night to create a little visual impact before the dancing starts and the 'real' lightshow begins :D
As and when required I also have another 2 megabars, 2 KAM Led parbars, 2 megapanels and 10 QTX thin Led pars for uplighting! :)
